Not the most surprising turn of events, admittedly.
Math was like "let me look at some anatomy charts for youse guys so I don't accidentally explode your appendoid, or your vom deference, or your pancreatic couscous , or your cumulonimbus duodenum, or your exoprostate, or your tarsal areala.
But in fact he was looking for exactly the sorts of things martial artists might like to jab their one-finger push-up fingers.
And if you're wondering why Cora's maliens aren't ganging up on Math, that will become relevant in a page or two. Or... three? Soon.
I think I've been overdoing the speedlines, so I pulled back on this page. Arguably too much? I'll find the formula just as this sequence is coming to a close, and then forget everything I've learned by the time the next action scene rolls around.

Never seen it in the knees, but for the elbow, here in Sweden it's sometimes called hitting the "tjuvnerven", or "the thief's nerve" and it HURTS LIKE THE DICKENS!!!! So I don't blame Big Red for hopping around like that at all.

Have you ever hit your elbow's "funny bone"? It's a sensitive nerve cluster that, when struck, sends weird tingles up your arm and into your hand. Given the caption under the main comic and above the mini-comic about the scratches, that would appear to be what happened to Math.

Yeah I'm really not certain he has no powers. Hitting a front end loader's joints will mess up your fist even if you know just where to hit. Just because that front end loader is shaped like a person doesn't change that.

Exactly. This is the ideal way to do speed lines. Enough to imply/indicate motion while having other things around that aren't moving as fast to help convey the degree of motion. The other page was making me think of the slow fast-punch from IGPX with the occasional bit of Z Warrior power aura's from Dragonball Z.

I'm not entirely sure he doesn't have powers. Learning that many different martial arts and being able to utilize them all effectively is well outside human norm, so that I'd call a power, it's just a power that doesn't give him any inherent physical advantages that a baseline human can't achieve with training and he puts in the training needed.

He is annoying but he is a funny kind of annoying because he is unmalicious. He feels no need to harp on his superiority because he *knows* he is just that good. If others can't see it, all the better for him. He is arrogant but without being a bully.

Those are from when she uses Rabbit Style. It's not terribly useful in combat, but she insists on practicing it with Math whenever they have the opportunity.

With respect to the speed lines, I personally think this is just fine. You've got enough to communicate the path and speed of motion without looking too busy.

Out of everyone in this comic, I'd say math has more of my respect than anyone. No powers, yet he can stand toe to toe with many that do. I'd say the same about the other non-powered team members, but we haven't seen as much of them as Math. Seneca seems cool, bad ass with the funny sweet eating side of her. Goose is, of course, Duke Nukem. Peggy and that SEAL whatever his name was are surely good too. But Math seems to be a level past them.

There’s a similar nerve complex on the outside of the human leg, just above the knee. We were actually trained to aim for that area during my baton and handcuffs course. Doesn’t matter how much muscle your opponent has, you strike that nerve hard enough and both their legs will collapse under them.
