The Birthday day
🕑 Added 2025-12-21 19:52:59 +0000 UTCYesterday was my birthday, and as anyone who knows me or has been around for a while can tell you, my birthday is actually my favorite day to be alone. I usually try to get all the social obligations and birthday festivities out of the way before the actual date so that I can just exist in total peace and quiet when the day arrives.
In years past, I have gone away or checked into a local hotel to hide, but this year was the first time I have had a birthday while living on my own. I was really looking forward to a day of listening to podcasts, cleaning, organizing, and just getting lost in my own space with no expectations from anyone.
Unfortunately, the universe had other ideas. The night before my birthday, the power went out and stayed out for almost 20 hours. I had to go to the gym just to get a shower and then ended up heading over to hang out with family, which was probably the one thing I specifically did not want to do on my birthday. To make matters worse, when I finally got home, I realized that all the frozen food in my fridge had thawed and started to smell. I spent my birthday evening tossing out food and scrubbing my freezer. To be fair, I did tell the universe I wanted to clean and organize, so maybe this was just the world forcing my hand.
All in all, it was a pretty dog shit birthday, BUT I still have plenty to be happy about! I had an amazing time with Shaun on the 19th where we ate incredible food, had some great drinks, built Lego, and generally had a blast. Today, I am finally getting to relax and do nothing but wrap presents, listen to Christmas music, and make a gingerbread house.
This post is absolutely me feeling sorry for myself, but honestly, I donโt even care. I am surrounded by people who love me, and you all make me feel so incredibly supported. I feel truly blessed to have the life I do.
