Better World Select
🕑 Added 2025-09-25 13:50:00 +0000 UTCBetter World Select brings a complete overhaul with a brand-new UI, giving you full control to customize the World Selection screen exactly to your liking.
Every feature is optional and can be easily toggled through a new in-game settings menu, so you can tailor the experience to fit your playstyle perfectly.
FEATURES:
Fully Adjustable In-Game UI: Every feature is a toggleable option within a new settings menu, right in the game! No more choosing between different files — just turn on the features you want.
Brand-New World Editor: A new editor screen lets you easily reorder worlds using drag-and-drop and hide any world from the list by simply clicking the checkmark next to its name.
Prioritize Played Households: Automatically sort worlds with your active families to the top of the list.
Resize the Worlds Grid: Adjust the size of the world grid using the + and - buttons in the new in-game UI.
Always-Visible World Names: An optional option to make world names permanently visible instead of only on hover.
Adjustable Tooltip Style: Choose whether you see the standard description or the vacation world description in tooltips.
Auto-Hide Unowned Worlds: Worlds from packs you don’t own are no longer shown, creating a cleaner view.
HOW TO USE:
To access the new settings menu and configure the World Selection screen, you must be in Manage Households or Move mode. The configuration options are not available when traveling.
HOW TO INSTALL:
There is now only one package file.
Place the SimMattically_BetterWorldSelect_v*.package file in your Mods folder.
CONFLICTS:
This is a UI mod, so it will conflict with other mods that modify the World Selection screen visuals.
What about UI recolors?
That depends on the creator, but you can usually use both if my mod loads first. Visual inconsistencies might happen depending on the recolor, but functionality should be fine.
🚨 IMPORTANT: To ensure compatibility, make sure my mod loads before any UI recolor mods.

Lovely. I just recently updated for the first time in a year, and this is a life saver. I no longer have to go into Zerbu's World mod to change the order (which was a huge PITA since I had to check the S4 Tool forums for the updated world codes, and it even gives me the option of the other mod that no longer shows a certain world. That last one was a great mod too, but it was fiddly and was not stable enough to use with your go to saves. This is a crucial UI mod. Thanks, SimMattically.

Fixes & Improvements: – Hidden worlds now properly save and stay hidden every time. – Modded buttons no longer appear on the season selection screen, preventing visual overlap with vanilla buttons. – Modded buttons now show up when moving a family, so you can rearrange or hide/show worlds while choosing a new home. – You can now expand the world grid beyond its original size (perfect if you play with fewer worlds!)

I need more details about it, if you need my help. Do world bubbles change in the background while re-ordering the list? Do they stay rearranged after pressing the Save button but get reversed to the default order upon visiting the world selection screen again? At which point does the problem happen? Do you have BetterExceptions and get any report while using my mod?
