That's what I have been trying to figure out. Why did the custodian have to die. Hmmmm I have a few suspects, but I also have a sinking suspicion the master mind has yet to make an appearance yet.

Hm. So... three murders. One fall. One drowning. One vanishing. The fall is explicable as bad luck. The drowning was a girl who couldn't really swim. I think it's the gargoyles. Malfunctioning security equipment. The last girl is probably stuffed up in a crawlspace somewhere. But that doesn't answer the question of who killed the custodian. Hmmm.
