3D Character set - Development

To not completely loose myself in the development of my film Obsession, I have been wanting to explore a shorter side project where I can push my limit and try out new things.
I thought having a project like that could be a cool thing for the Patreon page. Something we can dive into details with over here.
So whats up with these characters? I had the idea the other day that maybe I could create a set of 3D characters that would render looking a bit 2D and that I could use to populate backgrounds with in my films. If I ever were to make a film set in a city and needed a 2D looking crowd, a traditional approach when animating that would be ridiculously time consuming and crazy. These guys however could be customised and duplicated to the infinite without a massive hassle.
All the guys above are the same model, just dressed with different textures and accessories.
I first modelled a base shape character that had the proportions that I wanted. I UV mapped him and played around with some different textures that I painted in Photoshop.
The animations are all from the Adobe Mixamo's library. Such an awesome resource. If you have a decent modelled character you can just upload it there and it rigs it and lets you apply hundreds of cool and unique animations to it. For background crowds these could really add a lot of variety and interest to the scenes.
I have this idea of making a shot following a 2D (traditionally animated) character (Not these 3D ones) through a 3D scene where the camera moves and rotates. I think I want a single take scene without any cuts following this character and really push the limit of what I can make. I still want the background to have a painted feel to it, so I will definitely utilise the mix of 2D and 3D that I have been doing so far.
As I create a selection of different characters I can for sure share these here with you guys so you can add those to your own projects. I first want to get them to a good place. But will down the line have these available for you to download. (Elder Tier)
