Fun in the Dungeon. Fungeon.

I'll do another update in the next couple of days as there's a few more clips which weren't quite as successful but I'm having a lot of fun with a tool called Kling which has proven better than Luma. It has a motion brush feature which not only allows you to tell it which bits you want it to move, but more importantly, which bits you don't want it to move.
Kling is also really receptive to colours being used as guidance in keyframing and prompts, so I got good results with the Doctor playing the recorder by painting the recorder blue in the telesnap, and then telling it that he's "playing a blue recorder". Just helps it understand all the fuzzy black and white shapes.
The first shot of Ben and Jamie isn't 100% but I'd spent so long on it I didn't want to just bin it when it was so nearly coming together. For that I've used Hedra to animate the speech, but the likeness wasn't great so I replaced a lot of the face with an app called Vidwud which helped with Jamie's eyes. Then I merged them with body movements from Kling. The heads are a bit floaty and I've left some outlines which should be removed, but I'll revisit it at some point.
I'm happy with the brief shot of the sick Laird, although unfortunately because Ben is so fuzzy in the telesnap, he's become a bit lumpy in the final image. I'll see if I can fix this with a new face in Vidwud.
Kling and Vidwud have proven expensive, so sincere thanks to you all for supporting! I really do appreciate it.
ps. I've just done an epic recording session on The Highlanders for the Missing Episodes Podcast and it's produced their longest ever installment! Had lots of fun listening to Rhys Williams and we got the giggles for a solid ten minutes.
Bye for now!

These never fail to amaze.

Amazing stuff, especially the recorder shot at the end. I genuinely forgot I was watching a recreation and was absentmindedly thinking “I haven’t seen this bit of The Highlanders before”.

Do I detect a subtext? 🙂

That shot with the recorder is actually insane how realistic it is.

Thanks! It varies. The Laird shot I did several goes but it was almost all automated so hardly any time at all. But the Jamie/Ben one I’ve been grappling with it for at least a day. It would be a lot quicker if I didn’t worry about retaining the likenesses.

Blimey! That is really impressive! How long does it take for each scene?

Absolutely fascinating, the story of how it was done, and the finished product - thank you!

Looks really good
