Hope all you guys are doing ok, The last couple of days have been pretty strange.
Ireland's going kind of insane, there’s a ban on all public gatherings of over 100 people, and people are buying up as much food/ consumable items as they can, I went to a super market earlier and it was like a scene out of a movie.
Its been a strange thing watching the corona virus spread, I feel like it was only two weeks ago that it was this silly thing that people on the internet were over reacting to, but now its a national pandemic, my jiu jitsu clubs is closing for foreseeable future, and schools and travel are shutting down.
I consume a lot of American media/ podcasts and so I'm pretty familiar with a lot of the goings on over there (your forest fires and what not), but this is one of the first time in recent memory that there's this massive public panic, that affects people regardless of there location in more or less the same way (obviously infection in some areas is far worse).
It’s weird worrying about infection and then turning on a podcast and listening to someone who lives 3000 miles away worry about the exact same thing. I would say theres nearly something comforting about it, except when you think about it there really isn’t. This stuffs scary, I hope things get better soon.

Thanks, I'm a 3rd grade teacher and there's talks of outright cancellation of the rest of the school year, which makes sense. It's hard for everyone not knowing what their jobs and world is going to look like. Uncertainty can make us fearful, but we can find comfort in many things. Stay strong everyone. 💪🏽❤

You have to realize, even at the current optimal predicted fatality rate(1%, which is quite high still), they're predicting at minimum hundreds of thousands of dead americans alone from this. And that's if things go well, hospitals aren't overwhelmed, people aren't dying in hospital hallways because they need a ventilator but there are none. The current cases vs mortality rate would mean a fatality rate of 4%, which is nightmarish, but I don't think it's nearly that lethal, just a lack of testing to find the asymptomatic cases. But still, the way people are treating it like it's nothing and the way it incubates for a long time before it's apparent you have it, it's probably going to infect at least half the US, and there is no verified treatment or vaccine yet, likely not for a long time. Immunocompromised people like my mom are ridiculously susceptible to it, or people like Paige, Pat's girlfriend, if either of them get it they're toast, hospital or not. That's the real scary part. Also, it's just straight up being described as "the worst flu you'll ever have" even for healthy young people, so, that also is ugly.

I’ve gotten a text message from the government telling me I’m suspected to have had contact with a confirmed corona case, so I HAVE to self quarantine. Also my uni is moving all of their courses online this semester and cancelling face to face classes. It’s gone bonkers, man.

My family owns a supermarket and it's been crazy this last few days. I'm absolutely depleted and praying that Sunday comes as soon as possible so I can have a moment of peace. Hope all of you guys are doing well during this time.
