The knowledge of the tattoos could be massive, not just for Kai but also as a boost for ZZN and Omilaena too.

Love when he lets loose!

I agree entirely. Although it does amuse me greatly that that random guy managed to know what Kai was doing there within about a minute of meeting him (during which time he was trying to kill Kai.)

So we have a coral-themed sect that hunts ocean-based monsters - normal enough, an all-female sect that is *obsessed* with almost arbitrary measures of purity and beauty - okay kinda weird but whatever, and... a sect that's killing each other. Okay. Rosemount had demons and slavery, but it had a bustling and colorful port city, a fascinating pointy-eared people that cultivates their soul, and a capital city with practically infinite energy. Cloudspire's just really weird in comparison. Kai is getting more opportunities to show off and really stretch his muscles, but everyone just takes things up to 11. Is there a chill sect? One that, I don't know, just... wants to get stronger? I guess that was the Bloodcorals, but they fucked over Kai. Then again, that kind of fucking over seems to be par for the course, so maybe they really are the most normal a normal sect can get in Cloudspire. In a way, I suppose this characterization works, 'cause I sure as hell feel like Kai right now. I'm as much of a foreigner in a very strange land. I can see similarities with Chinese history and culture, which cultivation obviously originated from, but all the exaggerations make it feel distinct. For example, aunties definitely get that obsessed with white skin and womanly figures from my own experience, but it's turned way up to 11. By this point, the sect that turns it up to even just 10 will be the radical one. Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out to be the Brightwinds, ZCB aside?

I appreciate the fact that Kai tries his best to avoid joining a random side in their civil war. Too often protagonist think they can tell right from wrong based on initial impressions only to have to make a more difficulty decision down the line when they discover their gut instinct was wrong.
