I don't really get why they're still part of that sect I mean they're all way stronger than the leader and they've already proved that the people there aren't worth dealing with because they turned on them at the very first site even though they never did anything wrong so I don't get why they are even doing this mission to go anywhere for them

I have a sneaking suspicion the hooks will find them in the South anyway...

They need to renovate the ship to include an orgy bed.

I know it doesn't lend itself to the ramp-up in drama and action which has to occur at some point in the book, but I honestly really appreciate how when Kir Mei Bai asks our protagonists "Oh, can you go investigate the territory of the sect entangled with your father, whose heir you were promised to in marriage?" Their answer is "I don't think so, sorry." Honestly, I love seeing cases where characters run into major plot hooks, and their reaction is "Wow, that looks like a terrible idea, I'm definitely not grabbing that."

Looks like that's a wrap (with a few remaining threads to follow) of the first arc of this book ! Quite an exciting way to start the new continent, with a lot of progression for the trio, teasing of future areas, and a good amount of new material about the underlying power system to ponder on. I probably will have to do a re-read at some point to properly digest everything that has been revealed through (mostly) Omi, since I've probably forgotten a bunch of relevant information, but the little research segments are still a very nice starting point to do some light theorycrafting. Thanks a lot for this series !

Beyond a few hiccups here and there, the trio's rise to power in the Western Wilds was remarkably trouble-free. I really expected some last-minute complication happening in the Pureflower sect, but they got what they needed and just flew away. I'm dearly hoping trouble doesn't heap on them in the Southern Rivers to balance things out lol. Then again, we're around 50 chapters into the book now, which usually gets 120 chapters each. I'm guessing book 4 will be longer, but either way, we're reaching the midpoint relatively soon. The Brightwind sect recognizing ZZN and throwing everything they have against the trio might be a fitting one, causing the second half of the book to run at a cautious, tension-filled pace instead of the relatively laid-back feeling of the second half. I suppose we'll have to wait and see what's in the Southern Rivers.
