I even downloaded all requirements manually, and the package explorer shows no missing packages, but the checkboxes THICC, BUSTY, PREGGO and WIND do not change anything, neither in desktop nor in VR mode. Are there any settings required in the user preferences?

Yes, but you can use any model you like. It's not required. Have a look into the FAQ (Q2) if you load a model with a differnt name.

I'm probably misunderstanding this, but it appears that one of the requirements for this scene is a look from a higher tier. Is that right?
