Mellow greetings, BAP A legend of the industry, Monolith studios, has been shut down before even releasing the game they've been working on for 8 years. Growing up, Monolith was my favorite studio of all, giving me such gems as TRON 2.0 and the F.E.A.R. franchise. I know you have covered closures and layoffs to death, but I am curious about something: in other creative industries such as films and TV, studios and directors are able to make a movie that doesn't quite meet the mark, or is even a massive flop, and they will still get second and third chances. To me, it seems that these companies do not have the same respect for gaming franchises and studios that have put out good work as they would for, say, a legendary director or film studio. It seems to be treated as more dispensable. What do you think makes the gaming industry so much different that this is not afforded to the studios? Yours in puzzlement, Ferris Wheeler

Heyo bappers, so Dragon Age the veilguard is a ps+ monthly game for march 2025, only a few months after release. It’s a huge get for PS+. Exciting though this is (well for me at least - I hadn’t bought a copy at full price), does it indicate an even greater lack of confidence on EA’s part for this franchise? And do you think people who paid full price so recently have the right to be a little crossums? Thank you, david

Hi BAP! The PS+ monthly games for March have just been revealed, and the headline is Dragon Age: The Veilguard. There's been a consistent complaint that PS+ Essential isn't getting the big games anymore, but a AAA single-player RPG dropping for "free" [let's not start that argument] just 4 months after launch would be a massive win for the service if not for the indication of just how little faith EA have in this game. I'm aware you talked about this only a few weeks ago, but does this news make the future for BioWare even bleaker? If EA see BioWare as the developer that lost them so much money that they chose to effectively abandon selling their game to the largest console audience, they can't have much faith in Mass Effect or anything else they might want to do, rightly or wrongly. Do you think that, whenever the next Mass Effect does come out, people will choose not to buy it because of the precedent this has set - one for Ben and Ashton in particular, as people who bought and liked Veilguard. (Peter's opinion still valid of course but just curious whether the money spent makes it more annoying)

Hi BAP, Rumours from some outlets suggest the PS6 is slated for a December 2027 launch. Is this the right time for the next console? Or do we need more time to truly see the potential of the PS5 before looking ahead that far? After all, Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably still the most graphically impressive console game of all time, and that’s a last-gen game… May the airhorns ring loud and true forevermore, Big Money Bobby Vegas 📢 📢 📢

Hey BAP. Another week, another company laying off many employees. This time around it’s WB Games (article in comments) Large publishers keep shrinking and indie titles are making bigger splashes. Do you think the model of the “Triple A” studio is going to drastically change in the near future? PS: RIP Nemesis System (TM) We hardly knew ye

Hi BAP, (or BA, PB, AP should cover all combinations if someone has plops, unless you invite James to fill in lol), With the news that Activision have now been caught out using Generative AI to create in game assets in Call of Duty, how widespread do you think this could be, how long until it becomes more widespread and is it inevitable it will be used more to reduce costs? Is there anything we can do to show displeasure and influence this not to be used more? Keep up the good work.

Jens Herrmann

So what do you beautiful bois and gurl think about whatever the heck was revealed during the pokemon presents this week?

Michael McCarrick

Bonjour BAP and Associates (i.e. Jenkins et al)! I'm currently playing 'Detroit:Become Human' and I'm thinking of all the times AI and technology is portrayed as evil in games, particularly when it is mis-used or in the hands of (sic) "wrong 'uns". Do you think that games generated by AI would contain similar storylines or can we expect a raft of games showing technology as the good guys/girls/folks in the upcoming and terrifying future? Take care, stay safe - Michael

Hi BAP! God I hate this guy! Articles circulated last month seemingly confirming Elon Musk cheats to level by "account boosting" (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/jan/22/elon-musk-admits-cheating-at-video-games-chat-transcript-appears-to-showl). Normally this kind of practice wouldn't bug me but I can't get past bad people knowingly doing bad things and no one calling them on it. What would be a step to far for fairness in video games for you all and how would you respond? Love, John Ireland - The Jolly Green Giant

Hey Bap! After "Failing to Meet Expectations" at Launch, FF7 Rebirth recently shot up to No.3 in U.S charts after launching on PC. Do you think this marks the end of Square Enix's timed console exclusivity, and could we see Part 3 launch day and date on PC and Consoles? Much love from New Zealand 🙂
