Only culturally. That's normal in many parts of the world

lenkite

I think she is going to attempt to murder and eat him if he stands out too much. Feels like a cultivator on the [Cannibal Devourer] path.

Baconwargod

The stare is deeply unsettling.

Bonobo

Thanks for the chapter, loved it!

AjiTae

It's an extremely confidential code known only to a select few within the family. How would one go about cross-checking it? Would you torture the patriarch, even though he would deny its existence?:)

AjiTae

>"a world in turmoil" There's no internet, my friend, and books can be easily withdrawn from distribution. The most significant impact that the main character can achieve is the emergence of a few underground groups, which, arguably, already exist in sufficient numbers.:)

CrabClaw

It makes no sense why he would lie about it being a family code as that is easily cross-checkable and would get him caught in a lie. He could just say he invented it and leave it at that no?

Holy Mouse

She is the red flag itself, lol

Holy Mouse

Fixed it. Thanks for pointing it out.

I kind of hope that Song Song sticks around and brings Fatso into the conversation more. She said that she was “interested” in his fat cultivation, so I feel like she could help Fatso learn to fight better by obsessively sparring with him. At least once she gets bored of watching Liu Feng lead the group. She could kinda take him under her crazy wing since both Fatso and Song seem pretty lonely, and their weaknesses complement each other (ie Song is strong by doesn’t know how to interact with people, and Fatso is very friendly but doesn’t have much strength). Keeping Song around Fatso also helps normalize the nickname, so that Liu Feng will never have a chance to learn his real name! If someone as scary as Song Song repeatedly calls him Fatso, then others aren’t gonna be willing to use his real name anymore.

Aeonstorm

It might be just me but how song song is acting sets off a lot of red flags.

I find it cute how Song Song seems to be trying to imitate Liu Feng, because she believes he’s a good leader. I love when Xianxi/Wuxia books make cultivators lonely weirdos with no social skills, cause that’s legitimately what someone who meditates for years on end and is afraid that anyone can kill them for any reason would be like. I also just like Song Song’s character, and hope she doesn’t turn against Liu Feng. I feel like, contrary to her craziness, she’s actually pretty willing to listen to criticism. She’s also seems capable of accepting the strengths of others.

MaliMi

Ok, is she plotting an interesting accident for him? Or thinking whether he wants to supplant her? Or trying to learn how to be a leader by observing him? Anyway, will she become a yandere love interest later in the story?

"Later in my life, I will publish all these findings in the local standard language," I informed her. This is a bit clunky, maybe '...all these findings so all can understand.'? Saying the local standard is redundant and saying either of them alone is kinda weird. 'The local language' is only relevant when there are multiple other languages that could be used. The 'secret' English aside. 'Suddenly, I pressed my ear to the ground, attempting to rest my head. A tremor rippled through the earth, followed by a rumble before silence engulfed the surroundings.' Was he trying to rest with his ear on the ground? That sounds uncomfortable to the extreme, or was he trying to sense something before the tremor?
