The Sorcerer King - Chapter 7

I'm really, really sorry about the lack of update these past few weeks. A lot of shit has been going on in my personal life, including a pregnancy scare that made me realize I'm nowhere ready to be a dad.
Which is kinda sad when you consider the fact that I'm 29 and most people I know around my age already have kids.
I'm solving problems as they come, but I'm sure I'll have more time to next week or the one after that, maybe three or four chapters in a week.
Next chapter of Lily's Journal will be out next week, that's a promise.
Anyway, onto the chapter. Hope you guys enjoy this one.
Chapter 7
POV – Alysanne Targaryen
Finishing reading the letter from her old acquaintance, Lothor Burley, the lord commander of the night's watch, Alysanne sighed in relief.
The man was a good judge of character, so she believed him when he said that the so called 'sorcerer king beyond the wall' wasn't going to be a danger to her family or the kingdom. Lothor had met the man face to face, and even managed to get a promise from the sorcerer to supply some food for the watch. Mainly carrots and cabbages, which could be grown in the cold north.
Lothor also had a lot to say about the man's magic.
She remembered the time the Black Sorcerer spent in King's Landing, and despite the annoyance that was the man constantly flirting with her, she had to admit that his magic was extremely impressive. And, from what Lothor wrote, this Harry Potter was even more powerful. Creating an opulent room decorated with hints of gold and silver out of nothing, that was certainly a lot more impressive than the clear glass the Black Sorcerer created when trying to impress her.
The glass was clearer than any other she had ever seen, even the best myrish wasn't as clear as the one the Black Sorcerer made, that single clear glass cup would be worth far more than any goblet. But a man that could create gold and silver whenever he wanted was frankly terrifying. She wasn't the master of coin, but she knew enough about the job to realize how dangerous something like that could be.
The Sorcerer could destroy the realm without a single battle being fought. Creating enough gold to make their coin worthless.
She briefly considered ordering the man killed, but quickly let go of the idea. Sure, the man was a threat to the realm, but no regular assassin would be able to kill a sorcerer that powerful, she would need to employ the faceless men and even then it wouldn't be guaranteed. A failed assassination attempt could be even worse, making an enemy out of the sorcerer and all but guaranteeing the end of her family.
Alysanne chuckled, thinking about the horror that would cross the face of many in the realm if they knew their 'Good Queen' was planning an assassination. Not that it was that unusual for her.
She loved Jaehaerys, always did and always will, no matter how much they could fight sometimes. But she wasn't blind to his faults, a great warrior and an even better dragon rider, not to mention the fact that he could probably sell sand in the middle of the dornish desert. But her beloved husband was utterly incapable in the more… subtle ways of ruling a kingdom.
So, she made that her job. Working from the shadows to secure his rule, dealing with threats sometimes years before they could become a danger to the throne. And she was good at it.
She had spies in every major keep, and many of the minor ones. Maids, cooks, and even wet nurses. The women of the kingdom loved her due to the many laws she helped pass, the laws that protected women like the abolishment of the right of first night.
Alysanne made plenty of use of this love.
The women of the realm were more than happy to give her information. Sometimes it was just about a lord's love for Volantene wine instead of any Westerosi one, and sometimes it was information about a lord planning to rebel against a warden, or a lord planning the murder of his goodfather so his wife could inherit her father's lands.
Most of the time it could be solved easily enough.
Her women's courts were quite useful when dealing with those issues. Whenever she had information about a lord thinking about making troubles, she would invite the lord's wife to one of her courts to deal with whatever issue she had. The ladies always had some issue to deal with.
The invitation to court usually came with another invitation to join her for a walk in one of the gardens, and it was just a coincidence that Silverwing would always decide to land in the garden. After all, dragons did what they wanted. She would then rest against Silverwing and talk about how war was a terrible business, only useful to take sons from their mothers.
The talk would then move to the ways a wife had to change her husband's mind, and she would always suggest that the best way to change a man's mind was in the bedchambers.
This tactic never failed. The troublesome lords would always change their minds shortly after their wives returned from King's Landing.
Alysanne always regretted what she had to do to keep the realm at peace, using a mother's love for her children in that way felt like a betrayal of everything she stood for. But she knew well enough that a mother would do anything for her children, and that also applied to herself.
She never lied to the ladies, war was only good to take sons away from their mothers, and that included her sons as well. So she would use anything available to her to stop her sons from going to war, no matter how distasteful it was.
After losing four children, she wasn't ready to see any more of them die before her.
That's why she was so scared these days. A letter had just arrived from The Eyrie announcing Daella's pregnancy.
She had felt the pain of losing a child at birth, and she almost died giving birth to Gael. Alysanne didn't want her daughter to feel the same pain she did, and she certainly wasn't ready to lose her daughter to childbed.
The fear of losing her daughters suddenly gave her an idea.
Despite loving her children, Alysanne wasn't blind to their faults. Aemon had changed a lot since he claimed Caraxes, and even more after the birth of Rhaenys, but he was still a bit too shy and cautious. He wouldn't be a king as bad as her own sire, but she was afraid that he would never be able to take decisive action like her beloved Jaehaerys had to do some times.
Baelon was the exact opposite of his older brother. He was too wild, too abrasive. By the gods, the boy was five when he first visited the dragonpit, and he hit Balerion in the snout when the black dread roared at him.
His marriage to Alyssa certainly didn't help. Alyssa was just as wild as Baelon, and in some ways even wilder. Alysanne still shuddered whenever she remembered the cries of pleasure that echoed in the red keep during the first week of their marriage.
Alysanne wasn't shy in the bedroom, she had three and ten children. But she was sure that Alyssa would outdo her.
Maegelle, Vaegon and Daella never really gave her much trouble, and she was sure it was because their wild side was just passed down to their younger sisters.
Saera and Viserra were the worst of the lot. Both were beautiful, arrogant, vain, cunning and both had an uncanny ability to use their blossoming beauty to always get what they wanted. The main difference between them was that Viserra thought that only a king would be worthy of her, while Saera was quite happy to play with any man available. She was sure her daughter was still pure, but she also knew that Saera had kissed more than her fair share of the knights of the red keep.
She was honestly scared of Saera showing up with a bastard one of these days.
But her idea could help with that.
The new sorcerer was powerful, that much was clear. And the letter from the lord commander painted him as a good man. She would need to meet him first, maybe invite him to King's Landing to talk about trade between his 'kingdom' beyond the wall and the iron throne. And if she still believed he would be good for her daughters after meeting him, Alysanne would try for a betrothal.
Maybe not for Saera. She didn't believe that the sorcerer wouldn't have a way of spying on them, and he would certainly discover her daughter's… indiscretions. But a betrothal would be perfect for Viserra. It would take away her honest fear of Viserra trying to kill Jocelyn in order to marry Aemon and be the future queen. Viserra would love to marry a powerful sorcerer king, but Alysanne would need to embellish things a little bit so her arrogant daughter wouldn't realize that the sorcerer's 'kingdom' was just a small town north of the wall.
She was taken out of her musings when she heard a knock on the door.
"Come in." She said, once the door was opened just a little bit. Alysanne was quite curious, she was in her personal solar and it wasn't usual for someone to arrive uninvited.
"Your grace, septa Maegelle is here." Said ser Clement Crabb, the kingsguard tasked with guarding her.
"Let my daughter in, ser Crabb." Alysanne said. She was happy Maegelle was spending some time in the red keep after her long stay in Oldtown.
Maegelle entered the room with a grace unlike any other septa that Alysanne had ever saw, her station as a princess couldn't be clearer. The faith might take the name of their septons and septas, but they would never take away their education. Maegelle was raised as a princess, and she would always be a princess.
Alysanne hated what happened to her daughter, but she didn't always win her arguments with her husband, and Jaehaerys was a lot more willing to sacrifice their children for the good of the realm than she would ever be.
"Mother, you seem deep in thought. Is there something I can help you with?" Maegelle asked. Her daughter always thought of others before herself.
"Just thinking about your sisters, and how I can solve the problems I see coming in the future." She answered, earning a laugh from her daughter.
"I don't think even Alyssa was as troublesome as those two." Maegelle said, seating at the available chair.
"I certainly remember Alyssa complaining a lot about her younger sister always following her around." Alysanne teased, making Maegelle blush a little.
"I was only doing to her what she did to Baelon." Maegelle defended herself, bringing a small smile out of Alysanne.
A sudden roar shook the room, and they both looked out of the door to the balcony just in time to see Meleys flying low, Alyssa on the saddle. So close was she that they could clearly see her dirty blonde hair blowing in the wind, as well as the smile on her face.
"I guess she's proving our point. She has barely recovered from Daemon's birth and she's already flying again." Maegelle said, making Alysanne nod, and then shake her head at her willful daughter's antics.
"At least Viserra doesn't have a dragon, she would be so much worse if she did." Alysanne said, earning a nod and a small shudder from her daughter.
She could understand the shudder. The thought of Viserra with a dragon was honestly terrifying. As much as she missed her brother, and her father, she was glad that their dragon wasn't around anymore. From what she remembered; Quicksilver was just as vain as Viserra. How a dragon could be vain she didn't know, but the she-dragon managed to do it somehow.
"I hope she doesn't claim one. I don't think any dragon would enjoy the cold north." Alysanne said, making her daughter give her an intense look.
"So, that's what you're planning. Marrying Viserra to the new king beyond the wall. I don't think father would agree with it." Maegelle said, and Alysanne nodded, agreeing with her daughter's thoughts about Jaehaerys.
"There's still time to convince your father. I would like to meet this Harry Potter first, and I remember the Black Sorcerer was quite adamant on not laying with a woman younger than seven and ten, so his foster son might do the same." Alysanne said, making her daughter frown a little.
"Why seven and ten?" Maegelle asked.
"Rhaena was quite close to the Black Sorcerer, and I remember how she once told me that the Black Sorcerer said in his land a child would only be considered a man or woman grown when they reached their seven and tenth nameday." Alysanne explained, drawing a smile from her daughter.
"That seems quite respectful of him." Maegelle said.
"It would at least give me more time to spend with your sister before she marries." Alysanne agreed. "He would also be able to protect her better than anyone." She added.
"So, that's your real reason. After Alyssa's difficulties with Daemon, and your own with Gael's, you're afraid of Viserra dying in childbed." Maegelle said, and Alysanne nodded her head.
"I remember the Black Sorcerer healing someone once, and people say this Harry Potter is even more powerful than him. Someone that powerful would be able to ensure the safety of his wife in childbed." Alysanne said "I'm terrified of something happening with Daella." She confessed.
"Don't worry, I'm sure the mother will bless Daella with an easy birth." Maegelle said teasingly.
"It would help if she actually prayed to the seven." Alysanne said dryly.
Like many of her family, Daella still prayed to the valyrian gods. Most hid it well, while others, like Baelon and Alyssa, were a lot more open about their true faith.
"I'm sure the seven won't mind. If the seven don't mind me, then they won't mind Daella." Maegelle said, again in that teasing tone.
"I rather not leave your sister to the will of the gods." Alysanne responded. She then looked out of the open door again, and seeing Alyssa still flying with Meleys gave her an idea.
"In fact, come with me. We'll see your father, and then we'll fly to the Eyrie and stay there until Daella goes into childbed." Alysanne said, raising from her seat and all but dragging her daughter out of the room.
She had been present for the birth of every single one of her grandchildren. She wouldn't miss this one.

POV – Harry Potter
Harry looked around, seeing all the people busy with their work. The new winery was located in the 'industrial' sector of his town. It wasn't much, but most of their initial production was done in this area.
It was close to the docks made for their few fishing boats. The same docks that they were thinking of expanding into a proper port now that they were actually receiving trading ships. It was also close to the warehouse that held the first few settlers before the housing situation was solved, and a few other warehouses had joined the old one.
Not all of the industries were in this location. There were a few that were on the other side of the town, mostly the ones that dealt with animal products like the newly made tannery.
There were some worries about the smells from the townsfolk. Harry wasn't introducing many advanced production methods, and a lot of late medieval production had horrible smells. But his people were quite happy to found out that they had nothing to worry about.
Harry was using a lot of the wards that were once used in Hogsmeade, both the older ones from the founding of the school and village, and the ones developed for the expansion that happened after the war.
Most of the wards weren't really useful. They dealt with magical pests, and a few repelling wards to keep away some of the more dangerous magical creatures. But a few of them were useful for Harry's town. Alert wards for house fires, flooding, and ice and snow accumulation on the streets and many other problems. All of them connected to a few maps of the city, courtesy of Sirius, that showed exactly were the problem was.
Only one of the maps were in use at the moment. It was located in the barracks, where the 250 men of the town guard were trained. One of them was always on 'map duty', watching the map for any issue that might happen in the town.
But, in Harry's opinion, the true beauty was the runic array in the sewers.
Developed for the expansion of Hogsmeade, the runes were spread in the entirety of a sewer system. They worked by vanishing pretty much everything, so by the time they reached the sea, or in Hogsmeade case, the lake, all the sewage was converted back into pure, potable water.
It apparently worked combining magic with molecular chemistry in some way, Harry had no idea how it did so, and he was one of the best educated magical when it came to science. But the runes were the work of true geniuses like Hermione, and Harry didn't think he could ever achieve that level, no matter how many times Hermione had said he could.
But, while he couldn't really understand how they worked, he could still modify them, which ended up being one of the best things he could've done. Harry was able to modify the runes to separate salt from seawater without vanishing it, evaporation was almost impossible in the cold climate, but, with the runes, they didn't need to rely on the few days in which the temperature was hot enough for reliable production. The production level was also way higher than Harry thought would be possible, which was another major benefit.
Salt production was their only currently profitable industry, and Harry was honestly surprised how quickly it grew, but his surprise didn't last long, Sirius was quite quick in telling him that the salt being made was of a higher quality, and four times cheaper than any other production this side of the jade sea. Demand was almost outpacing their production, and Harry was already thinking of setting up another runic array to improve their output.
Most of the few merchants that visited were leaving the town with their ships filled with nothing but salt. A few bought some exotic pelts, or some ironwood they cut when they were expanding the town, or building the wall that protected the peninsula, but most of them were buying only salt.
Speaking of the wall, that was a major blunder on Harry's part.
Turns out that a wall of almost 85km (52.8mi) took a lot of men to properly patrol and defend, men that he didn't have, so he had to improvise. Sirius and Harry spent a couple of days casting detection wards all over the wall, and then another two weeks making 'marauder's maps' of the entire length of the wall.
So, in the end, the security of the wall was a three men shift of rudimentary security guards, that instead of looking at camera feeds, looked at maps. They also had access to communication mirrors, like the ones Harry and Sirius used, and either Harry or Sirius was always on call to deal with anyone trying to climb the wall.
They only had to deal with raiders twice, and they were both hoping to never need to do it again.
Harry was a little worried about giving others access to so many magical items, but that same presence he felt in the weirwoods helped him with that problem. An oath made under a weirwood while drinking the tree sap worked as a magical oath for anyone, even people who don't have magic. So, the three men Harry chose for the guard shift were made to swear an oath to keep the secret of the magic they had access to.
The wall did bring some pleasant surprises.
A large group of wildlings, or as they like to be called, free folk, came to one of the gates under a banner of truce one day. They had apparently heard about Harry from the old tribe his village used to trade with, the one that died to those cannibals. So, when they lost their leader in a battle against another large tribe, they decided to seek Harry in hopes of food and safety.
Harry was quite happy to welcome the fifteen hundred people into his budding kingdom.
There were a lot of complains from the people of the town, but Harry was able to stop their complains by giving them his word that the wildlings wouldn't cause any troubles, and if they did Harry would deal with them. As well as setting up the wildlings in another place, around half a day's ride south of the town.
Harry had no problems making that promise, mainly because he learned something new about the free folk when he used the same bit of minor legilimency he used in most of the arriving immigrants. As much as they might say they don't kneel, the free folk, when they do choose a leader, are more loyal than anyone from south of the wall. They might challenge that leader for his position every once in a while, but they would never disobey an order, never betray their leader in any way.
Or at least that was how the ones Harry welcomed into his kingdom behaved. He couldn't generalize an entire culture of around 80,000 people from a sample of 1,500.
Although, the members of the night's watch that Harry had met believed that there were only around 40,000 wildlings north of the wall. They estimated that around half of the wildling population died in the last winter, either from the cold, or lack of food since the winter was colder than any other they had ever lived through.
Harry was quite surprised to hear from his new citizens that a regular winter would normally cull around a third of the wildling population. He really hoped the other tribes would approach him one day, but he wasn't going to be the one to make the first move. From what he gathered from the others, most free folk wouldn't actually obey his laws if Harry was the one to approach them, and Harry didn't want to end up killing some idiot because he 'stole' a woman.
The new village was progressing quite nicely. The wildlings never planted anything, so they weren't good farmers. But they learned quickly, and the cold climate was actually pretty good for a few hardy crops like cabbages and roots.
His idea of making them a farming village was already paying off. Harry had asked Sirius to hire an experienced farmer south of the wall, and he quickly found someone willing to move for a modest signing bonus of 5 golden owls. The coins they were using had the exact same gold content of the golden dragon used in the south, so the conversion was quite easy.
Harry was quite surprised to find a spell for engraving coins in the books from the Black library. According to Cassiopeia's portrait, the spell was from before Gringotts became the only bank in magical Britain. A former minister and member of house Black was apparently a bit like Hermione in his hoarding of knowledge, and quite willing to break the law.
It meant that he didn't need to build a mint, or hire people experienced in minting coins. With the added benefit of his coins being of a higher quality than any others in this world, impossible to forge with the level of technology available.
The tens of millions of coins he brought were enough to stablish an economy without issue. Harry didn't even need to use his stone to make more gold, and he didn't see any need to do it in the immediate future.
Looking around the busy winery again, Harry saw the winemaker and decided to make his way towards the man.
"Willas, how's production going?" Harry asked, startling the man who quickly bowed.
"Your grace, I wasn't expecting you." The man said quickly, still bowing and not looking Harry in the eye.
"Rise, Willas. Again, how's production going?" Harry asked again, a little annoyed this time. He still wasn't used to all the bowing, and he didn't believe he would ever grow used to it.
"Production is as expected, your grace. We should have a few barrels ready in a couple of moons, but with the grapes we are using, we should allow the wine to age for five years before selling." The winemaker said, making Harry nod. He was already expecting that answer.
Willas was a good find. An experienced winemaker from Dorne, the man was quite happy to trade the heat of the desert for the cold of his village. A good amount of gold and a chance to run the winery were good incentives.
Harry wasn't stupid, he knew winemaking wasn't going to last as an industry in his town. They didn't produce their own grapes, having to buy from the Arbor, and just like on Earth during the late medieval times, the lords in this world were still big on mercantilism and would scoff at the mere idea of free trade. It was only a matter of time until the Redwynes decided to stop selling grapes to him.
But winemaking had a lot in common with the production of other alcoholic beverages. Having experienced workers for when they started long term productions would be good.
"Good, good, and how's the bottling going?" Harry asked.
The bottles were a nice idea he had.
When he hired Willas, Harry also bought a few barrels of the best dornish red available at the time. He then grabbed a few galleons and sickles and transfigured them into 'bottles' of gold and silver. The runes carved for permanency made for a nice decoration on the 'bottles'.
Good wine in extremely expensive and well decorated 'bottles', of gold and silver was a nice product to sell to the rich lords of Westeros and merchants princes of Essos.
"The bottling is proving a little harder, your grace. But my workers learn quickly, they are improving every day." The winemaker responded, making Harry smile.
That was the point. The bottling was just another thing he was preparing for the future. Harry still wanted to make proper bottles made out of glass, but for that he would need glassmakers since he had no idea how to make it, and the library wasn't helpful either.
That's something that should solve itself quickly enough. Sirius was in Braavos looking for a shipwright to hire, and after that he would make a quick stop in Myr to free a few slaves working on glassmaking, and then he would have a 'talk' with the men in charge to learn the mixture they used. Harry knew about lead glass and soda-lime glass, but he had no idea of the amount of each element needed.
Sirius' talk might well include a couple of cruciatus curses. It wasn't like there was a ministry to stop them, and Sirius happened to agree with Harry on the fact that slavers deserved no mercy.
"Good. Keep working on it, Willas. And remember the workers of the bonus they will get if they finish the job on time." Harry said, remembering the winemaker of the bonus he promised the entire winery.
It wasn't like he needed the money, so he was quite happy to use a share of the profits to motivate the workers.
"I will do so, your grace." Willas said, bowing again.
Harry just shook his head and left the winery, stepping into the clean streets of his town.
The street was quite busy. Harry's decision to build mostly terraced houses had the unintended side effect of the town having a small footprint compared to its population.
But, despite the amount of people making use of them, the streets were still clean and smell nice. The sewage system taking care of waste in a way that no other city in this world could do. Sure, his town wasn't anywhere close to the size of King's Landing, or Oldtown, who would still be considered big cities even back in England, but its cleanliness was still something his people always talked about.
Harry looked up and saw the clear, blue sky, and what he guessed was a hippogriff flying in the distance.
Walling off the peninsula allowed Harry to finally release the magical animals from the expanded trunks, and they were adapting quickly to their new habitat. He was a bit worried about the ecosystem, but it all seemed to be working fine for the moment, his biggest worries were quite quickly solved.
He didn't bring many hippogriffs or unicorns, so those were his biggest worries, especially the unicorns since they were currently the only source of wand cores Harry had available. But the larger predators like shadowcats and direwolves never really attacked the unicorns, and they were quite balanced with the hippogriffs. The hippogriffs had the advantage in mobility, but the shadowcats and direwolves were large enough to stand their ground and kill a few of the hippogriffs. So, hopefully the new species would stablish themselves without disrupting the natural order.
It would take years, maybe decades, for Harry to know for sure if any of the animals would spread like the invasive species back on Earth, but he was hopeful it wouldn't happen.
Harry stopped looking at the sky and made his way to the townhall, the next stop in his agenda.
The crowded streets made the short travel seem a lot longer. Harry could've apparated, but he liked to walk around the town. It was a good way to see how his people were doing, and see if there were any troubles needing his attention.
Finally reaching the townhall, Harry nodded towards the two guards and the young woman in the reception and then moved through the corridors towards the meeting room. He laughed a little remembering the weird look Brandon had on his face when Harry talked about building a proper reception. The concept didn't really exist in Westeros, but Harry was adamant on having receptions in public spaces in his town.
It was a little reminder of home.
Opening the door to the meeting room, Harry nodded his head towards the two people inside and then sat at the throne-like chair at the head of the table.
"Brandon, Dalla, how are you today?" Harry asked in a pleasant tone.
"I'm not hungry, freezing my tits off, and I don't need to worry about the fucking cannibals taking my sister." Dalla said with all the eloquence of a free folk woman, making Harry laugh.
Despite her gruff manners, Dalla was an amazing find. She was twenty years old and Harry considered her a Hermione level genius. A mind that would've been wasted if Harry wasn't around to build a city in this cold hellhole. Harry considered giving her an opportunity to use her mind his greatest achievement since arriving in this new world.
Dalla was a member of the tribe Harry accepted in his kingdom, and she was being trained to take over from Brandon. Harry had decided to grant Brandon rule over the next village to be founded, the man had worked hard since he arrived and he deserved the reward.
This would make Brandon the first proper vassal of the realm.
Harry wasn't really worried about scheming vassals, he was already planning a mandatory annual feast to all vassals of the realm, a feast that would serve for Harry to use a bit of subtle legilimency on all his vassals. So, if any of Brandon's descendants, or any other vassals Harry might have in the future, decided to try anything funny, Harry would find out quite quickly.
And if Harry did find a woman in the future and his children marry into one of his vassal's houses, it would be even better. Sure, his children would pass on their magic, and would probably teach occlumency to their children, but the magic would make any oath taken by those children even more magically binding than the oaths taken under a weirwood the normal vassals would do.
"I'm well enough, your grace. Although, if I can speak freely, your grace?" Brandon asked, and Harry nodded his head. "I still worry about your lack of security." The older man said, making Harry groan a little.
"This again. Brandon, there is nothing a man with a sword can protect me from that I wouldn't be able to deal with my own magic." Harry said in a tired tone.
He was getting annoyed with those constant requests. Apparently, he needed a kingsguard.
As if a man armed with only a sword would be able to protect him from anything he couldn't deal with on his own.
"Now, for the reason why I asked for a meeting today. Entertainment." Harry said, moving the conversation forward.
Harry had this idea just last night. He was really missing a sport, both playing and watching. And since quidditch wasn't possible, he would work on the next best thing.
"Entertainment, your grace?" Brandon asked in a confused tone.
"Yes." Harry said simply. He then quickly conjured a ball, the same one used in the world cup held in France in 98.

AN 2: Alysanne is making plans, but we all know most plans that involve Harry never work as expected.
And Harry is hard at work building his kingdom, including providing some entertainment for his people.
The kingdom building arc will end soon, most of the basics for a functioning kingdom are already done. But, before that, Harry will be visiting King's Landing for the first time.

It isn't really a plot hole. Sure, Harry can easily create glass with his magic, but he isnt trying to create a single piece for personal use. What he is trying to do is create an industry for his people to work on. And while magic can be used to create something, it really doesn't give one to knowledge of how that something is made without it.

Ok I'm not sure you meant for this to happen but you've created a plothole. At the begining of the chapter Alysanne explictly states that Sirius created a crystal clear GLASS goblet for her with his magic.... Then toward the end of the chapter he and Harry suddenly can't make glass for some reason (which I don't buy in the least as glass would be simple for HP magic to make I mean come on....) Trying to artifically create problems like that for plot purposes when we are all well aware that HP magic can handle almost all mundane problems if one has the spells for it (which with how simple most of these things are is very likely to be in the massive Library) it just comes off as the author trying to create issues when there shouldn't be any. Unless it involves a uniquely magical problem that is native to Planetos that HP magic can't affect then it would be more plausible for there to be issues but otherwise don't try to tell us that mundane stuff like glass production is too much for HP magic when we see examples of Wizards creating conjured glass items all the time or transfigure it from something else in HP canon.

Oh man finally I want to see Harry marry Viserra already lol. I wonder if she will claim a dragon before. Or if Harry will get his own dragon. Hope to see an update soon! Hope everything goes well for you.

Welcome back and thanks for the chapter! Pregnancy scares can be rough. Don’t feel bad about your age though. Raising kids is tough. A lot of your peers may have them already but it doesn’t mean they were ready for them or wished they didn’t wait longer.
