I just got married!

My dream wedding was 3 years in the planning (one more year thanks to Covid), and after all that build up, I'm happy to say it really was the wedding of my dreams!
I always wanted to get married outdoors in front of water, trees, and snow capped mountains, and Fernando and I found the perfect spot at Black Butte Ranch in Central Oregon.
If there is interest, I can share more details and pictures, but because you all are the awesome members of the Woolfpack, I wanted to share at least a few with you now.
We won't get our professional pics of the wedding for at least a few weeks, but our photographer, the amazing Dennis Dizon of Studio Dizon, did share a few with us from our "engagement shoot" which took place the day before the wedding at BBR. The cover photo above is one of those pics.

I can't wait to get the rest of the photos from Dennis. Luckily, I didn't have to wait to see some of the photos our guests shot.
This is Fernando and I in our wedding suits:
We actually had two aisles for our ceremony instead of one (because we wanted to come together at the same moment), so here we are walking down the aisles. (That's our photographer, Dennis, on the left, capturing the moment!) All the flowers were by the spectacular Emily Miller of Bend Floral Artistry.
Here is our cake.
There's actually a story with that cake. Fernando and I had a tough time deciding on the flavor, and unbeknownst to him, I sent our baker at Foxtail Bakeshop a recipe for our favorite cookie, the Ricciarelli, which is a chewy, almond cookie. The baker actually hadn't heard of that cookie before, but the cake she made from that inspiration was perfect. And when Fernando and I tried the sample at the tasting, we knew we had found the perfect cake. Add some stars in a beautiful night sky, and it was a very Alex and Fernando cake. :)
(Also, you might notice that our topper is special, too. We actually got scanned for that, Tron-style. You know how I am. ;) )
Neither Fernando nor I are dancers, but we did take a few dance lessons with the incredibly patient, talented and enthusiastic Emily Coles. We won't be quitting our day jobs, but we did have a lot of fun with our first dance together, as you can see here:
(And yes, with this photo I can definitely see all 19 of the COVID 19 pounds I added in this last year. No more cake for me for a while!)
And of course, the happiest moment was when I finally got to kiss Fernando. We met over ten years ago so this has been a long time coming!
So that's what I have for now. As you know, I don't usually post much personal stuff. I feel like my comics are a lot more interesting that I am. But this was such a special day, and y'all are so special to me, I just couldn't resist sharing a bit here.
Thank you so much for all your support. I might write about fictional people, but it's my hope that we all find joy and love in our real lives. I love romance, and here I got to step into my very own fairytale. I wish you all the same happiness and more.

SO happy for you Alex! I know the art is not often about the artist but at some point, especially with such a dialogue with the audience (and patrons!) that have drawn us a little closer to you (and you to us), there are definitely many of us ready to share in your and Fernando's day of joy. Such great pictures already! I know, speaking for myself as a patron, I feel great giving because of who you are as both an artist and a person. You're right that it wasn't the first time we kissed, but it definitely felt like the first time in the magic of the moment. ;) And that "floral curtain" was a suggestion from our florist, Emily Miller -- I also thought it was super cool! Hopefully, Fernando and I will be able to keep taking a few more dancing lessons. He needed some convincing at first, but in the end, we had lots of fun with instructor Emily Coles. (Yes, all of our vendors were apparently named Emily.) I'm going to try to convince him again to continue with me. Wish me luck there!
