Concept sketches for Shadow the π¦
🕑 Added 2024-12-01 16:21:18 +0000 UTCI'm away for a few days, and it's a great time to sit near the fireplace and sketch some ideas for future dolls! The next project is Shadow the Hedgehog!
We were thinking a lot about how to transfer his design into a doll. Should we make him on a male or female body? Beige, light brown, dark brown or black skin color? Cyberpunk or motorbike badass style? So many questions! So, I had to draw a few options.
Because we only have a cinnamon boy doll, it doesn't really fit our vision of Shadow having a bit darker skin color. We also asked a few people at the London convention, and most of them said 'make a girl Shadow'.
So now the skin tone and style. We have a Dollfie Dream Anthy and a coffee Smart Doll to choose from, so either rich medium caramel brown or deeper darker but not very saturated brown.
The first 2 concepts are the ones we like the most and are the last ones I draw, so they are the most detailed. The rest is earlier stages of ideas.

Ah, I see. I guess more colorblocking details also makes sense for a doll mainly for a video/photos. Different textures are harder to capture in pictures.

I think a longer vest of the 2nd design with the larger collar with the full look with the wings would be very killerπ€π½π Also the darker skin tone for shadow would seem more fitting.

I like the first one and the one with the wings. It's a shame you not have a boy doll to make him with, but these female designs are still really good! Shadow is my favourite sonic character, so I'm really excited to see you make this! βΊοΈππ¦

I like the last two the best. The bun and wings are awesome, but I really like the darkest skin tone.

Hahaha true! Our last 2 dolls are gay, and the next 2 dolls planned for the beginning of 2025 are also lesbians (one canonicly and the other I'm not sure but in my head she is), so if Shadow is gay that would mean 5 π³οΈβπ dolls in a row π π

I'm really torn, I like the other comment that talked about how the bun with the spikes looks like his spikes but I also loooove how the braids in 4th image look. You guys did such an awesome job with Sasha's hair and I'd love to see more dolls with styles like that.

They are the "motorbike badass" version and I really like them too, I just wanted to add "racing" kind of vibe to it and that's how nr 1 and 2 got created π

they all look really nice! I like the 3rd and 4th the most for Shadow, cause it's the closest to his design. However 1 and 2 are also really cool

Is it possible to make the collar fold-down or removable? I've seen bikers wearing collars like this under/along with their helmets, but I understand that on a doll scale that would be thicker and trickier to maneuver.

We're thinking of replacing the collar with a scarf so that we can also add a biker helmet but still have this mysterious look!

I think my favorite is the second: with the high collar, layered gloves, etc. Loving the biker look and the hair!!

Ah, I would have preferred a male Shadow tbh π© i'm just not been the biggest fan of genderbends and we need to see more male dolls too But ultimately thats up to u guys obv! Love the pants in yhat last sketch!!
