2021 Hiatus - Important News
🕑 Added 2021-07-25 21:22:44 +0000 UTCAlright, I mentioned it before and here we are. I have to officially announce that starting on the first of August, I will be on hiatus. That is because -as some of you might know already- my family and I are moving. Thing is, it isn't going very well. (More details below.)
How long will the hiatus be ?
It will last two months. (And possibly more if the judge doesn't get back to us before September but, here is hoping they will...)
That's quite a long time... and "judge" ?
Yeah, turns out the house we bought is an inherited property and thus belonged to multiple people. Which already isn't the simplest thing to deal with on a legal aspect in France, but that stuff happens all the time so, no big deal. Problem is, there is more to it. Some of the current owners happen to have a mental condition and are considered "legally unable to take such a decision". It is now up to a specialized judge to decide in their name about the sale, and even though it should be "yes", as long as we don't have the signed paper saying "yes" we can't have the keys and move in this house (despite it being empty and uninhabited).
And, because apparently this situation isn't urgent enough, we also learnt August happens to be the month where every judge settling this kind of things are on vacation. Yay. The sooner we can currently expect to move in (that means, if the judge were to answer before August) would be the 15th of September.
Aaaand it's not like everything would be solved by then, this house is pretty old and needs a lot of work (especially for water and electricity). It will probably take a few weeks to renovate and make it livable. Also my computer is dying but hey, one more problem, one less...
Okay but can't you just wait before moving out ?
Nope, we already sold our current home and are expected to have left on the first of September. Moving out on the first and moving in on the 15th, at best... You see the problem.
So, what are you going to do ?
First things first, we will stay calm and move out properly. Put everything in boxes, clean the apartment and leave. Most of my stuff is already boxed, all that's left in my room at the moment is my computer, my clothes and a mattress. We're aiming to have everything packed for around the half of August, so we can already look for a place to go.
Now, exactly where our stuff and ourselves will go after that, is still unclear. We have friends willing to host us for some days/weeks if needed, and we're looking for renting some place to leave our furniture for a while. But yeah, it's not 100% defined yet.
What will happen to this page then ?
Payments and rewards on Patreon will be paused until I get back in business. Which means you won't be paying for "nothing". However, I will not completely disappear either. I still want to do the Liara picture before leaving and I planned on posting some of the sketches I made each month for the "Macaron du Chef" tier, which means that I'll try to drop a few waifus from time to time, both here and on my twitter.
I also have opened an alternative account on Twitter : @SadGanger. It will be a place where I might give some personal updates more often, share opinions, or even shitpost if I want to (that's what the cool kids do, right ?) It is locked because I don't want it to grow into something too important and don't want my tweets to get too much attention, but I will accept anyone who stumbles upon it and would like to know what I'm up to. So please, come follow me there !

Maybe. I sure hope so. But also maybe not.
Although we will have the money from the sale of our apartment on our bank account (which would cover only the price of the new house anyway) being technically homeless for a few weeks will bring a lot of extra costs (renting a place for the furniture, paying movers a second time, delaying all planned reparations, etc...) And were things to take too much time, I don't think we will financially be able to deal with all of it. I know we will make it work on the long run, but if things don't settle quickly, I might have to find another job and completely stop art for a lot longer than a few months. I admit that would really be the *worst possible scenario* for me, but seeing how everything has played out so far, I'd consider this as likely as anything.
As you might be able to guess, these past weeks have been intensely stressful for all of us and the only thing we know is that it is far from over. It saddens me to have to pause art because, conjoined with the support you guys gave me for so long, well... it is what gave me the strength to keep going when life got rough. And now that life got somehow rougher, I'll have to do without it. Which sucks, but it is up to me to take on this challenge and make the best of it.
TL;DR : I have to pause art because I'm moving. Unfortunately, the move is going so terribly I'll be *technically* homeless for a while and it might take months until I can get back. Here is a place where you can follow me for updates unrelated to art : @SadGanger

Well, you already have my most sincere thanks ! You (and everyone here) are the absolute best. And perhaps it doesn't seem like much, but seeing people understand my situation and remain this supportive is an incredible relief already. I'm hoping things will work out quickly because all the understanding and the kind words everyone showed me until now have me absolutely fired up ! I hope I'll be able to make up for all of it when the time comes.

You've always been a kind and level-headed person in my interactions with you so hopefully you can get through this alright, no matter what the end result will be!

Sorry to hear it's been that rough. Hoping things will work out with the ruling and all gets settled quickly. It definitely sounds like a tough situation and I hope your able to stay strong to get through it all.

Thank you, we'll do our best trying not to stress too much. That wouldn't really help anyway, would it ? We have a saying in french; "Faire contre mauvaise fortune bon cœur." Which means the best thing to keep against bad luck is a good heart. It's been a great motto to remember lately 😅
