Dragon of Rochester

You figured it out! 🥰 Yes, that is the reason he was so desperate.

The bear is not even the same color.

young kids dude! My sister had a baby this year and it was the most sick at the highest frequency I've ever seen her tbh. Absolutely brutal at points. *(edit: fleshing the thought out) My understanding (I studied public health in uni, but it's been years so grain of salt here) is the combination of kids having less experienced immune systems combined with the fact that any disease they pick up, by definition, is transferable to other humans (i.e. there's no need for the disease to mutate like with something jumping species from farm animals, such as bird flu). Add to this the fact when a child gets sick they probably weren't born with a genetic predisposition to defend against that specific strain of disease (i.e. think Europeans-descents genetically predisposed defense to a bunch of the plagues suffered throughout Europe history - since anyone particularly susceptible to them died out back then) and it becomes a nearly unpreventable disease vector for the parents (from whom they got their 'resist these diseases more than other' affinities in their genetics). They essentially serve as an optimal petri dish to let the disease beef up, then they infect the parents with a high concentration exposure to some disease they aren't *particularly resistant to themselves (since their disease resistance should correlate with the child). edit - curiously, if my hypothesis is correct. This would suggest that parents to young adopted children will get sick less (but still more than non-parents), particularly if their child is from a different regional background than themselves (i.e. pick any parent, child combination of: white, black, eastern asian, se asian, asian indian, american indian, south american indian, etc). No idea if this is true, but could make for an interesting ph.d. thesis if no one has looked into this... no worries @Dragon of Rochester - know you and your families immune system has me in their corner cheering them on!

I'm guessing that Lin is going to end up helping him break through.

I actually created a large amount of notes on their sect back when I wrote story 9. While IBB sect focuses on life partners and treating your beast with respect while still being their master the Leashed Claws sect actually does not do that. They instead take a more carrot but mostly stick approach. In some aspects, even though they’re considered orthodox, their methods would be considered near abuse to a modern audience that is more aware. But I’ll have to save anything else for when they’re introduced in the story as I still need to flesh them out more…. They’re not the good guys.

Renn

Honestly, it did not occur to me for a second before that it was unintentional. It felt like the set up for a “curse you author for setting up such a questionable path to power” joke

Dragon of Rochester

I was actually reconsidering his name because it sounds… well, you know, but I can’t think of anything better that suits the very different way of beast taming they use.

Renn

With a name like that and how you’re phrasing very different, I’m a bit scared

Dragon of Rochester

The sect leader of the Leashed Claws sect. They are a beast taming sect that is VERY different from the Irrepressible Beast Blood sect.

Renn

Ayo who tf is dominant restraint master?

Dragon of Rochester

Well, I can’t stop my boy from getting exposed to viruses while at school. He then comes home and exposes me. It’s this terrible cycle. And it doesn’t help that we practically self quarantined back during Covid. While we didn’t get sick back then we are sadly making up for it while our immune systems catch up. I can tell that we’ve improved from last year though! While we’ve still gotten sick it hasn’t been nearly as frequently or as terribly. I guess I could start wearing a mask everywhere again. But that wouldn’t exactly help when patient zero is inside the house. 🤣

Grappleshot

All that sick time sucks. Do you know why this keeps happening?

Arkeus

I am sure the timing of the orthodox sects deciding the head is dead and to attack is pure chance

Story Time Compass

Resentful Shadow Snake...... Talk about foreshadowing here

CherMi

So the junior sect leader probably wanted to save his master with that promised cure from the demonic cultivators. At least that's my best theory after the timeskip. Excited for the war arc, but it's a pity Fairy Lin won't reach next stage of cultivation in this story. Well, I'll be over here quietly hoping she'll weaponoze her tribulation for the final battle (and survive).

Pete

So I guess Noxious Fangstrike will also have to reach that stage
