That is how non-main PoVs work, yes. We're not always going to get all the answers immediately, because this is Thea's story. Thea doesn't know about anything going on outside the room, so we won't know everything either.

I feel like something is missing from between the end of the double feature and this chapter. We left off with them staring at each other and Kara realizing that she and Evelyn are extremely similar. Then, we start here with them walking in together as if nothing had happened?

Thank god it ain't a Trope in the novel then, phew. It's just a personality trait based on the MCs upbringing, not an actual thing that consistently happens. Hence, not a trope.
