Do we all know how to cut files up?
🕑 Added 2018-08-08 01:30:53 +0000 UTC Hi all,As we grow it is becoming difficult for me to keep up with all the personal requests or need from patrons to cut up files and create assembly guides etc. I love to help, but I also have to be realistic. If I do get to my goal of 500 patrons, there is no way I can be cutting up individual pieces for hundreds of people, it's just not going to happen at the rate people want.
While some files (like say, a lightsaber) would naturally be in multiple parts anyway, when it comes to Armor files like suits, it has to be the most time consuming part of this process... cutting up a piece of armor for 100 people, 100 different ways..
This does not apply to dioramas etc, where things are cut by me to remove the need for supports and allow larger prints- we're talking specifically cosplay helmets and armor here.
Honestly? it's killing me and its going to eventually kill this patreon if I continue on this way.
I was just wondering, who here is comfortable with receiving say, a Torso from a piece of armor and then doing the cutting up themselves if required?
I can lose entire days cutting up and rescaling suits for individual people and I just don't have enough hours in the day to be doing that while people are eagerly awaiting new models to print.
If you are unsure as to how to cut a file up to print, I want you to use this post as your guide. Ask me, and I will tell you one of 10000 ways you can cut files up. Meshmixer? meshlab? blender? tinkercad booleans? the list goes on and on.
Cutting models for printing is an essential skill you should have in your toolbox and I think now in 2018 it's time for me to hang up my slicing hat and teach those who don't know how to, how to.

I like to do my own cutting of SLT files, because that suits my 3D printers' performance.

jose if you go to youtube there is plenty of how to videos for cutting up models meshmixer is a free program you can use bit awquard a first but once get used to it its dam good :)
