*Note. The detailing on the handle /grip of the sword is not meant to be the final detail. The ridges are there to assist in keeping whatever you wind the handle with in place while you are winding it by letting it fall into the grooves every couple mm. The 'official' sword is bound with what looks like brown packaging string... I will use leather probably myself but thought I should mention it, I left the detail out on purpose.
I have seen a few versions of this sword made now but after having the real one staring me in the face for a while and after having posted the video of sculpting the hilt months ago (And fending off messages about when it was gonna be released... ) it was time lol..
I also wanted to make a few changes and get it right. I have seen one released even this week on the zbrush group, but while his sword is nice its not very accurate to the movie sword the hilt nor the pommel and the scale is incorrect also.
This is a basic print. 5 Pieces, 1 hilt joiner and 3 x the blade joiners which are long, fat and are all the same size, so just print 3 of them. Hopefully this should eliminate the 3d printed bendy sword syndrome.
You can load the entire sword onto an Ender 3 bed in all its parts, it is about a 40 hour print at 60mms print speed at 0.2mm and about 20% infill and 3 shells.
The blade is thick!! I made it about 6.5mm in total so I could get a good 4mm slab in the middle, so while it is a couple mm thicker than the real thing, it is the same length and as accurate as I'll go for the time being.. there is always something you wish you fixed after the fact :)
