New art for the cornfield game!
🕑 Added 2024-10-26 03:03:08 +0000 UTCHi guys, I've been working hard on piecing this cornfield game together! My focus so far has been on getting all the main mechanics for the game working before I start throwing in all the artwork, but I took a short break to add some more sprites for a new location on the cornfield map: a junkyard.
I could use some ideas for this location, so if you have anything that comes to mind please let me know, but my initial idea is that the player could come to the junkyard and swap out items, or to get a new item if they ever for some reason lose their item.
If you remember, this game is about trading items in order to get the right items to the right people which will then open up new locations and (potentially?) new abilities for the player. I am trying to stick with the limitation of not having an inventory- or rather, the player will only be able to have one item at a time. If this mechanic seems more obnoxious than interesting as the game comes to life, then I am willing to fold on this idea. But for now, my hope is that it will lead to some interesting gameplay and puzzle aspects.
So what should happen in the junkyard? I probably should have figured that out before deciding to draw it all out with the intent on adding it into the game, but I feel like I had a working idea for it at one point before... I think we can make it work. Give me your thoughts, but no pressure 😬

I was thinking the same thing location wise, I like that idea. Well the little girl is the main character that the player plays as, but maybe the junk pile could ask the girl for an item that it needs to feel complete or something? Or I could create a NPC that lives in the junkyard and is looking for something to fix their something 🤔. or maybe the cats 😶

Hm, I think a junkyard would be cool to have that's just outside the cornfield, away from the main houses. Like a dumping ground. I could imagine the little girl being asked for scrap metal, or like a small pipe to fix farming item (supposedly)
