Video: Orruk Ardboy - Testing out the Two Thin Coats Paints - Full Version
🕑 Added 2024-02-25 16:42:15 +0000 UTCHello everyone. Here is the full early access version of the video. I will edit a much shorter one for YouTube for next weekend but I wanted to put the full tutorial here and covering as much as I could. In this video I am testing out the Two Thin Coats paints on one of the new Orruk Ardboys. I hope you enjoy the video!
I'm really looking forward to cracking on with some more of the Lion and other Golden Demon entries as well as the next part of the fundamentals series.
Paint recipe list will follow soon for this video.

Dave this video is fantastic, I recently decided to get back into the hobby after a number of years and videos like this get me super hyped to paint things 😍 Also this is quite possibly my favourite paint job of any greenskin I’ve ever seen, the colours fit together perfectly and your brush control is unmatched, well done and thank you, keep up the amazing work!

I am eagerly awaiting the paint recipe list you mentioned in the video. Could you please let me know when you plan to publish it or where I can find it if it is already available? Thank you!

Love the video and paintjob as always Dave 👌✨❤️ Really cool that you took the Two Thin Coats range for a spin. I have all the paints from wave 1 & 2 and I’m very happy with them so far (though I haven’t tried all of them yet 😅). My bottle of Vampire Fang was pretty unusable though… Really thick and super grainy when thinned down. On the other hand the Pallid Wych Flesh equivalent was a dream to use compared to the Citadel version.

Fantastic video, loving the longer content, one of these every so often would be great (I only say that as im guessing its a pain to do a long and a short all the time) its always interesting to hear proffesionals view on parts of paint ranges ( if you ever get round to it, try tt combat's range) keep up the great work, its inspiring!

Cheers Dave!

Just regular Series 7 this time
Richard T
Cheers Dave. Were they the miniature series for W&N?
Infernal Brush
Hey Richard, thank you! For the majority of this video I used a mix between an Artis Opus Size 1/2 and a W&N Series 7 Size 0 or 00. I think for most of the highlights I used the W&N's
Theodore
I agree with everything, but what do you mean with sourcing? Sorry my English is not perfect.
Infernal Brush
Hey Theodore! Yeah I actually have those paints and they are great, the only problem is consistency (having to mix all the time) unless you are doing all your painting in a single session and also it becomes difficult with so much mixing making tutorials. They are also a bit more difficult to source for a lot of people. But I might use them in the future for a one off video, I feel like they lend themselves to bust painting quite well.

Hey Dave. Thanks for all your work. I just got my hands on Kimera basic paint set. There is a learning curve but it actually quickly became my favorite paint. For 70€ you can make any paint you want by blending. The coverage is awesome. The opacity is still there even in a glaze or wash consistency. I definitely recommend you these paints, they are awesome.

Excellent video Dave! When you were working on the first red highlight, was that a Size 1 R&C series 33 brush?
Ariel Sasinsky
Thanks!
Infernal Brush
Thank you Ariel! I used it in the Cities of Sigmar video a little while back. I would love to get some more terrain for these kind of videos I think they look great as a backdrop
Ariel Sasinsky
Another great video! Is the terrain in the background new?

Dave i'd love to see you do more of these kinds of videos. Maybe even limit yourself to one range, or just to 5 paints, or some really bad acrylic paints from a random shop. Interesting to see how to deal with the limitations.

Always a fantastic day to get an orruk video from you!! 🤘
