How to Paint: Night lords

Comments

Suki Dashing

thank you for this. i have been using this to paint up the nemesis claw KT and i have been really focusing on nailing them. lots of good fundamental tips in this one

Liam N

Would love to know th recipe for basing nightlords. Or even just a desert or astro granite - like scheme. Same for their red cloaks/robes.

Jonny Stone

Another absolute banger mate, my future Crimson Fists thank you for this! I have an unrelated question if that's okay. I'm about to do your Black Templar tutorial, and after that I'm going to paint my own black / red marines, and I get the impression that a different recipe than stegaddon / wraithbone would be better for red. What would you recommend I use for blue tone, do you have a tested recipe? Or should I just use the Bike Chaplain recipe from the google docs? TYVM, keep up the good work!

Sam Dapper

I second the comments above. For YouTube general audience maybe a condensed general guide would grow the audience but I love the long detailed videos, to see something as simple as the sped up brushstrokes allows me to see how you manipulate the model. (I would assume those of us that pay enjoy seeing the thorough process more than YouTube) but I’d watch anything you produce regardless.

Infernal Brush

Thank you Ollie! Glad it's useful!

WardenofMacragge

Absolutely incredible work, watching you paint is a pleasure as well as extremely helpful and informative. Thank you Dave!

Infernal Brush

Thank you Nate, that means a lot!

Infernal Brush

Thank you for the feedback Matt! Yes GD piece will be fun! Looking forward to showing you all! :D

Infernal Brush

Thank you Tobias!

wtfispeeps

Agree with Nate heartily ;)

Nate Shaughnessy

Dave don’t ever sweat about a “lack of content”. Your stuff is so pristine and provides us w/ perfected teachable content.

Matthew

Hi Dave Great video again. I alway look forward to them. Some smaller videos on making bases would be cool. As well as some smaller free hand videos. Like chaos markings , chapter badges. May also be good. Or OSL tips. I liked the video on human faces with different skin tones. Can’t waist to see you golden Demon piece. Regards Matt

Tobias

Great video, such a well balanced colour scheme. That bronze with the dark blue is -really- top notch, Dave. Thank you.

Infernal Brush

Thank you Tim, I appreciate the feedback dude!

Infernal Brush

Thanks Tim!

timofthestars

Also, +1 for rocky basing and painting techniques and +1 for glazing (maybe with tabard example) vids.

timofthestars

Great video man. Cool to see the extra feathering/blending steps for the blue armour. Actually gives me a burning desire to paint dire avengers. Also really like how the brassy gold turned out.

Infernal Brush

Thank you Jose! Thank you for the feedback I will make a video on this!

Chris

All thanks goes to you - I have learned so much from the content you have been making, Cheers!

Jose Herraez

This might be my favourite video so far. Thank you for this. I would love to see how you painted the other chaosy bits and the base!

Miguel Angel Ahís

Thanks, I undestand, don't worry. We are learning a lot with you.

Infernal Brush

Thank you for the feedback John! I did cover skulls on the Deathguard video however I could see a dedicated video on different skulls and different recipes would be useful

Infernal Brush

Thank you for the feedback Chris! Yes I think that would be good, I could cover fur, horns, icons, bones, wood, leather etc

Infernal Brush

Thanks Adam <3

Infernal Brush

Thank you Lee!

Infernal Brush

Thank you for the feedback dude! Noted! Definitely a techniques video on the way for glazing.

Infernal Brush

Thats a brilliant suggestion thank you Daniel!

Infernal Brush

Thank you Dante!

Infernal Brush

I'm afraid Miguel that it just takes too long to produce and edit a video with that many parts. Bearing in mind I have to get 2 videos out per month. The skulls are covered in the Death Guard Part 2 video.

Infernal Brush

Thank you Richard! Really appreciate the feedback!

Infernal Brush

Thanks John! Yes it would work very well on a Librarian too

John Lemon

Phenomenal video dude! Hyped to try this on a librarian.

Richard Perrin

Great vid thanks! Will definitely try and replicate those shoulder highlights. And yes, would love to see a base/rock sculpting vid that you mentioned please!

Andrew Steel (CMDante)

Great video as always mate! Love all the little inclusions like the paint list at the beginning and the inclusion of which brush you’re using (maybe it’ll stop people asking all the time? Probably not, but we can hope right?! 😊). Amazing to see such an excellent piece laid out stage by stage like this!

Miguel Angel Ahís

Why not in the video the tutorial for the skulls???????, nooooooooooooooooo

Miguel Angel Ahís

I personally prefer tutorials with completely finished figures, with explanations of all the details. In my opinion, it is good to have few videos, but with 100% explained figures. PS: I'm going to need a lot of videos of the new Warhammer40k dwarves.

VVenture

I think general videos on things such as glazing or edge highlighting would be great. I think some of your experience with tuition as of recent might help too since it’s probably helped you realise what people struggle with most! I’d also love the chaos details and/or sculpting rocks tutorials too. Another suggestion for a ‘quick and easy’ video might be a rundown of the equipment and tools you like. Glaze medium, sanding tools, clay shapers, milliput, micro-set and sol, etc. It would be extremely useful, and you could also use B-footage from painting and assembly streams in that kind of video, making it easier to create than a whole ass painting tutorial. Also works as an FAQ to the millions of YouTube questions asking about your brushes, primer, etc 😂

Hellglazer Painting

Fantastic as always. Your glazes always seem really simple to do. I often struggle glazing lighter colours, even with Daler Rowney medium. It would be cool to see some stuff around how to properly use mediums.

Lee Barnes

Great stuff Dave, another example of quality content 😎

Adam Pasek

oh yeah Davy Baby

Chris

Absolutely yes to details for Chaos miniatures.

John Fields

Very good video, I’ve been waiting for this since I picked up Konrad recently. Small videos seem like a good idea, just having a dedicated video for skulls for example would be amazing. Basing videos are always good as well.

Dan Simonds

I would love to see some more basing tutorials but this is great stuff!

Jim Tink

Hi Dave, yes to video about details on the Chaos Miniatures and basing video(s)

Ramon Oliver Sanchez

Basing and general techniques all sound great! Also, maybe tackling one miniature per race/army would be great too! (E.g. one space marine video applies to all, one eldar, one sylvaneth, etc…)

Martin Grimstad Sivertsen

Shorter videos tackling certain parts or techniques are very welcome.

Joe Westley

Very nice <3
