Some interesting revelations all throughout this chapter. From the bit about how resurrection restores demons when you don’t have a specialized resurrection service with phylacteries like the Academy does, even having to physically grow up again over the course of a few days which is funny to think about happening to Elroy. To what the Duat Dream Drop is (Thanks Viscount Potami) and just how far back it’s usage must’ve happened to Belkis to twist and turn her soul to the point she’s slowly becoming more and more isolated from any support she could have and turn her into the traitor to her groups ill-fated expedition, all to facilitate Lord Nychta’s little hunt on her to slowly make her more and more reliant on him with her knowing it, but at best only thinking herself affected by Dream Magic to twist her into something knew that she’d just have to tolerate since the changes would become who she really is, despite it only partially being the case this time, until he can well and truly break her and probably is part of the reason she didn’t return to the Academy to help when Esmerelda asked which I remember being mentioned. Which as an aside, he is absolutely the sort of demon that Baroness Esmerelda’s warnings would most apply to, because he can go to hell! Er, wait, that doesn’t work. To the very depths of Tartarus! Yeah, that works better. Kinda. And finally, we have what’s going on with Potami who seems strangely inclined to work with Sylvia. Polite and friendly enough during the dance and being the one who gave the hint she needed about the Duat Dream Drop he seems to be an ally. But why? He even agreed to the 2.5 million price point for his ship. It speaks of some sort of scheme, probably connected to why he was called away, and there’s no guarantee what this scheme really is and if Sylvia just happens to be a pawn on the board he’s moving to a more favorable position since it serves to help them both, or if she herself might just be someone he’s waiting for the right moment to pounce upon and shatter what his actions might’ve suggested about him before. Actually, it’s probably more likely she’d be an unintended prize over anything if that does happen. I don’t like it (as in the situation she’s dealing, chapter story is great), but I suppose I’ll just have to wait for the final chapter of this arc to come around. Which is going to make me a little sad when it does so since it’s so rare stories get me thinking so deeply about them and commenting on it all too. Oh, and it truly is a tragedy that Sylvia’s curls are fading that must be rectified immediately by Emily upon her eventual return to the Academy. After all, I’m sure there’ll be a reckoning in that since there’s no way she won’t figure out she changed her style early.

Just one more chapter to end this arc... and then we wait for spring. Thoughts: Ugh. I hope Sylvia won't be able to read smut through the forums. Welp... can't really speculate on the plan, seeing as literally every detail is being hidden from us...! Huh? Okay, so Magister < Master Magister < Lauraete... but not actually, because Vallenfelt is a laurate, but not an "official" magister, so it's a different flavour/type of respect... Uh, sure! 👍

You binged a little to fast. Gavin was pretending to be Zahir (shapeshifted) and was revealed by Sylvia because Gavin didn't have a counter to the System's divinatory detection (see chapter 25).

Simon Hoerder

Yay to Gavin being back! But I'm a little confused about where she found him. What have I missed? Did I binge read too fast?
