It works same as a brush. So I switch it every time. You can wash them but you have to let them dry completely before the next go.

Do you use the same sponge for all colors or are you swapping it out when changing colors?

I’m using a makeup sponge but you can use the sponges from miniature transport cases as well

What type of sponge are you using for this? I've tried kitchen sponge and various sea sponges, but none I've tried have been able to recreate those fine specks you're getting.
