You’re close enough about Shades of Cool. The title is about being “blue” which is a cool tone color or shade and blue means sad/depressed. In the song she talks about not being able to cure her boyfriend’s depression. “I can’t help him, can’t make him better” “Bonnie’s blue” specifically means that she’s just one of the women he is seeing, all of which are sad and affected by his depression. He treats all his women like shit likely due to his depression. All of this is kind of ironic but most of the time in Lana’s discography blue doesn’t mean sad, it means happy or content.
