I meant to bring this up ages ago, but wanted to address how the Mai/Zuko relationship felt a bit out of left field early this season– (hopefully y’all are coming around!) But remember the flashbacks from Zuko Alone where we see there was a bit of a crush building between the two as kids? Plus fast forward years later, Ty Lee's teasing remark to Mai in Return to Omashu about seeing Zuko again—I like to think they had their crush/fling/what-have-you as young adolescents, and him returning home after banishment allowed them to pick up where they left off. While we literally don't see exactly what’s developed between them over the years, I really appreciate how the writers dropped those hints and left the rest to the imagination :) Hope you continue to enjoy their screen time together as the show wraps up. I do quite like them as a couple.
