Need to differentiate what we - the audience - know, from what the characters in the show know. EVERYONE believes that Theon killed the Stark boys. If Robb is defeated, Sansa is the heir to the North. That is why Littlefinger is so interested in her. Remember what Varys said in the previous episode: "Littlefinger is the most dangerous man in the seven kingdoms". If he marries Lysa Arryn, he would control The Vale, he was named lord of Harrenhall which would give him control of The Riverlands (if the Tullys are defeated with Robb) and if he has Sansa...

I think two clarifications are in order: 1. Beric Dondarrion was the guy with the flaming sword that fought the Hound. Thoros of Myr is the red priest (lord of light priest, same as Melisandre) that resurrected him - he ALSO has a flaming sword. 2. Tywin is not acting out of panic - that guy NEVER panics! - He is acting strategically. His children are just pieces on a chess board. Besides already controlling the crown, those marriages will give the Lannisters full control over three of the seven kingdoms. The Westerlands (home of the Lannisters), The North (by marrying Sansa Stark) and The Reach (by marrying Loras Tyrell).
