In many interviews, IU said that she and Moon So-ri (middle age Ae-sun) had lot of discussion about how to sync their voices, their gesture and such. They also read one another's script in order to better understanding the character. There are a lot of interesting materials and you can find some in youtube channel "Netflix K-Content".

Its an amazing show. The Story is so well written. And ALL people who act in it is amazingly choosen. I also like how the soundtrack is matching and of course the narration itself and by differnt actors as well.
