Name of the Dungeon Kingdom
🕑 Added 2023-11-23 03:48:01 +0000 UTCWhat should we call our newly declared dungeon nation? I'm not sold on the name I used, and want some feedback!
If you have another option, please comment it! After this poll, I'll take the four most popular names, including some of the most liked names from the comments, and make a second poll for the Silvers to make the final decision.

A federation perhaps?

While i agree on the other catagory, Could the other races within Medea not be considered it's own kingdoms? That would make it an alliance or even an empire right?
Jacob
I agree that it isn't by definition an empire or a "king"dom it is a Theocracy. Perhaps it could be called a commonwealth. As for a better name than those proposed I have no idea

As many have said I’m of the opinion that it’s neither a kingdom or empire. I think the semi religious aspect is important to the citizens and I’d describe the area of influence as a domain. So I’d like to propose Creators domain or Creators Reach.

So I've been reading through the comments and thought I'd highlight two key points I'm seeing. 1. Kingdom is ruled by a king and is ultimately iffy if applied to the current situation. As it's a country directly controlled by a deity/dungeon core. I'm sure the scorpan king would have conniptions if his station was put at parity with the Creator. These concerns apply to, 'Empire' as well, though to a lesser extent. 2.The name Medea came from the lord he just deposed, specifically his family name. Using it might be easy and recognizable, but ultimately it doesn't belong to the dungeon and doesn't necessarily portray a clean break.

The divine kingdom of medea or the divine medean kingdom

Sure but it's future proofing for when they keep expanding isn't it?
David
The Medean Manadom. Rule by mana.
Kor
The Medean Unity would be a nice spin on the diversity of children races who all share a common goal
Undead Writer
The Devine Republic of Medea perhaps?

The Holy Kingdom of Medea! I like it!
NeonRaven
Holy Realm of Medea. Has a nice ring to it imo. Brings the theocratic part of the Children and soon to be surface out and kinda plays into the whole part of him actually creating his own realm underground.

I agree with the idea that the name should be big but the nuance of empire is that it is larger than a single kingdom usually with one or more colonies, the island is only large enough to justify being a barony so the name should invoke mysticism or merit, otherwise no one will be willing to take it seriously even if the area of the dungeon would justify it that territory can't be observed by the people that need to be influenced by the name
Cypha
The idea of himself choosing a name is great. Then the kingdom can be "Dominion of Name". For example he chooses Creatos as name then it's "Dominion of Creatos" :)
Carl Mason
It would be kind of fun to have several of these be used by different groups. The main/actual name, then the name used by people who don't care for the place, then the name used by the monsters, etc. And, honestly, I kind of want him to shed the name of Medea, which is from the human lord.

As a suggestion: Empire of Endless Tomorrow. There's a general rule that if you want people to respect your authority you need to carry the trappings of it, be what people expect you to be and call yourself what they expect. If you want to rule over multiple other nations as an absolute ruler, you're an Emperor. If you want to imply you're here to stay forever and that you are the future then there's a few ways, but Endless Tomorrow is the most inviting while still being an absolute and a little menacing. The longer it stands, the more assaults it repulses, the more most people will believe in the name and the less they'll even try to actually challenge it. Convince someone they can't win and your own victory is all but guaranteed.

You could also consider the idea of Corey taking a name for himself as a mystically significant event. You might consider it a dramatic promise for what the development for the dungeon is going to be moving forward.
Quyan640
Was the name Medea from the dungeon or colonizers? Because the dungeon should decide it’s own name if it’s the former.

I feel the need for some gaslight energy in the name, and I'm reminded of the Song of Durin from lord of the rings, and I'm going to turn a name into a noun. So I'm going to put forth: "The Returned Agartha of the Sunken Star." Agartha is a legendary kingdom that is said to be located on the inner surface of the Earth. Returned implies its been here before and a dungeon has the power of a star, especially this one.

There is no King, so Kingdom is inappropriate. While Medea may ultimately fall under the jurisdiction of a single entity. Corey is not a King, he does not couch his rulership in terms of divine providence, he has no heir, he does not engage in the aesthetic of Kingship. A more precise name might be the Autocracy of Medea, or perhaps the Federation of Medea. If he wants to establish and mostly rely on a ruling counsel he might even go all the way to the Republic of Medea.

Divine kingdom also gets around using Medea in its name which helps sell him as an ancient dungeon.
Robothaus
I feel like "king" should be omitted and it should just be The Theocracy of Medea, or something like The Mercantile Theocracy of Medea if they wanted to project their intent and seem like they already had a solid plan for what form their country would take since they are rather lacking in force projection outside their border they should focus on how they will influence their neighbors through trade
ShadyTundra
Using Medea in the name breaks part of the illusion of it being ancient, use Latin, Amharic, or Greek. Kingdom of The Melekotawī Kori makes it seem more mysterious since Amharic is 2k years old

The Under-Kingdom of Medea
ShadeByTheSea
Personally Theocratic Kingdom of Medea sounds better than Divine Kingdom of the Creator. I mean what do you even call the citizens of the second one, Creatorians? Nothing fits that isn't super generic or kinda dumb.
Yanni
I chose ‘The Divine Kingdom of the Creator’ because in the eyes of his children he is a god.

Theocratic Federation?
Osprey36
You could call it a Dungeon-state or something like that similar to how they would call city-states back in antiquity. The place could simply be called the Kingdom of Medea still but its classification would be called a Dungeon-state. Someone else could probably come up with a better name to call it, like how there's a magocracy for an oligarchy run by mages/wizards in fiction.

There's two terms for thus: endonym, the name used by the natives, and exonym, the name used by others.

I like the idea of "the kingdom of the crowned jewel" as 1 the dungeon is in charge and 2puns
Angel Wings
I suspect the official name will be "The Kingdom of Medea", however many of the Children will probably call it; "The Divine Kingdom of the Creator". My logic is that the official name is what the rest of the world will know it by - and the world is mostly populated by humans AFAIK. However, many of the Children are quite strong in their faith.
Roombot
I think 'kingdom of medea' is too bland. It needs some extra flavor to reflect its unique status. It's not like other kingdoms, rules by mortals. I say The Eternal Kingdom to reflect its ruler's immortality.
Pyro Reaper
I voted for the Divine Kingdom of the Creator
Nifty
i think thats the best, especially because Medea was a name given by humans, so this name i feel is more appropriate

I voted for the Divine Kingdom of the Creator.
