A PSA about Shout Outs...

Nina Davies

I find the shout outs as boring as it gets! Please don't feel obliged to do anything on account of my miniscule contribution.

Ruth Marshall

I don't mind about the shout-outs personally, but thought you'd be pleased that you got your own shout out in TWiV 854 (https://www.microbe.tv/twiv/twiv-854/)! Scrub to the end where they have the listener picks. Listen to the whole thing actually, two good papers on omicron fitness and viral load.

Janice MacKay

I may not have gotten a shout-out, but I do now have a vitriolic dislike for Joe Rogan, which is just as good, right?

Dan

Reconcile with James Lindsay, arrange a 2nd appearance on Dr. Phil for him, secretly exchange his scripted remarks with a list of Patreon shout-outs, 2 minutes later and voila!

Great idea!

A man after our own heart.

You like us, you really like us!

Out of our budget!

Christopher Kavanagh

It's a PSA! We will get to everyone some way, some how but just wanted to let people know.

Christopher Kavanagh

That's not a bad idea either!

Christopher Kavanagh

What you really are is an unbelievable thinker and researcher...

Christopher Kavanagh

Cheers Tom!

Tempting...

Richard Hardy

No more vested interest since I got mine this week.

You're victims of your own success!

Maybe you could hire John Moschitta Jr. to quickly read the backlogged names? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExKCcndqK5c

Christopher Kavanagh

It’s on a slightly smaller scale than that.

This whole post is like when Sam Harris said he needed to hire a whole team in the Phillipines just to answer emails from people asking for an account on his website.

So, whose ego are you worrying about, yours because you promised or patrons who want to know you fulfill your promises so they feel warm and fuzzy. In the words of Edmond O’Brien, “they? who the hell are they?” And as he said also (same movie script speaking of a promise) ‘it’s who you make it to!!’ I am old.

Put out the call that anyone who has yet to receive a shoutout has X weeks to submit a an entertaining show review and do a special episode that is just X mins of 'review of review' picked at random. A funny episode that engages the patrons on a personal level which I think would make up for the fact not everyone will get a shoutout.

Allan Hutton

Just…fucking do it!!

Tom Allison

FWIW, I have no idea whether I have not been shouted out to or just missed it and it is nowhere on my radar of concerns for the show ;). I would say, keep up the reading of reviews if there are good ones and keep participating in these comments and offering the occasional livestream and the incentives are definitely fully intact.

Christopher Kavanagh

Oh that’s a good idea!

All good guys - if the reason it hasn't been done is because you two are so busy decoding, there's no better reason. Take all the patreons, input names into excel...choose one randomly...do the gurumeter with them as well, if they're willing :)

Mark Bromley

1) Give up. 2). As compensation, buy each of us a 1-month access to Bret Weinstein's Dark Horse Discord (€4.50+VAT), where we can share and revel in our bitter experience of being ignored by DTG and the wider establishment of Professors and Associate Professors, despite our obvious galaxy-brained genius.

Manav S.

Ah, the problems of a successful podcast. Two ideas: 1) Just give up trying to catch up 2) Roll them over to the gurometer episodes where you guys have a bit more time.
