About that Joe Rogan 'apology' video
🕑 Added 2022-02-03 07:11:32 +0000 UTCWe want to get out of the Rogan-verse. We don't even know how we got here...
But we couldn't let the 'apology' video go without a final decoding.
This will come out as a special emergency episode as soon as we get done with some minor editing.
But until then you guys get it in advance!
Enjoy.

What has Jesse said?

I don't have a problem with being hypocrites (we all are to some extent) but I definitely have a problem with someone not taking even base levels of responsibility when tens of millions of people listen to them during a pandemic-- and I have a problem with someone looking at an open letter signed by 100s of professionals asking him to stop and he just... doesn't??

Should go to one of Jesse Signal's Call In's and get on him about this

I don't think it was a dig; I think it was just more evidence of his dumbassery. His mouth moves, but no evidence of actual brain function.

"I'm just having conversations . . . I don't prepare anything . . . I have all this evidence ON MY PHONE, at the ready to confront guests who don't agree with me." WTF? He's such a phony blowhard. Thank you for decoding this goon(ru).

And it is so sad because people ARE making medical decisions because of stuff like this. Just a few days ago a comedian and Rogan fan, Christian Cabrera died of Covid complications and wasn't vaccinated, he was only 40 and had small children. It's horrible. He texted his brother two days before he died saying he regretted not being vaccinated. It's a horrible story, I wish I hadn't read it.

The censorship argument also forgets that it's not even a question of Spotify providing an equal platform for all views, they cut a 100 million dollar exclusivity deal with Rogan, so they are actively inviting and promoting his show above others.

I think you’re right. Also he says he’s got a Neil Young story and then proceeds to tell some boring tale of working security at a Neil Young concert from which he fled when trouble broke out. If he liked NY he could have simply stayed and listened under cover of his hoodie. I

Robert Malone was apparently listed on the Canadian FluTruxKlan protest convoy website as evidence to support their anti-vaccine opinions.

I find it specifically distressing how the frame of Sam Seder criticizing Joe Rogan/Spotify exactly along your lines as if he is advocating for censorship. It's not just libertarians but so-called anti-imperialists on the left. There seems to be an emboldened attack on Sam Seder by these free-speech absolutists (with Jimmy Dore as their spirit animal) on the left. Is this censorship paranoia shared with libertarians and this branch of the left because of both ideologies sharing advocacy for revolution?

Will long form podcasting destroy the West?

I wondered that as well. I like that song a great deal but it ain’t by Joni.

That "we've got to fucking fight tooth and nail" all goes back to his fusillade at the primatologist. THAT'S what fuels him.

That "Chuck E's in Love" comment from Joe was a dig, right? He is such a malevolent asshole.

Yeah sorry. I will try to get my phonetics closer to the truth in the future😁

Could Joe Rogan be a giant chim-Panzy? I don’t know, just trying to get to The Truth…

Great video lads - as always. Sad to see you're departing roganville, but that's just me being selfish - you have both suffered enough. looking forward to what comes next.

Good take. I agreed with most points but maybe I’m slightly more optimistic (or naive) about the signal it sends. I’ve seen a few reactions to it, but like you say all fairly predictable. Trevor Noah was more generous than I was expecting but he made pretty much all the same points as you guys.
