Really 'enjoyable' episode. Was interested to see you engaging with Rebel Media stuff. I was aware of RM from their super early days put was put off by the blatant Peterson fanboyism and what I perceived to be a tendency towards Meninist bollocks. I had a read of Fuller's Medium article which was interesting HOWEVER seems deeply weird in how literally after saying he did not want to up far right signals Fuller links to Redbeard which is, in my perception super far right, and could suck in the odd reader. I'm sure that was not Fuller's intention but it is easy to suggest that fascism is bad without linking to Stormfront surely? Anyhow, another enjoyable episode and Jordan Hall deserves the snark for both his sympathising, his everyone is a sheeple but me stance and his crazy word salad. I am a Sociologist with new materialist leanings and even I thought it was cobblers!

I don’t know enough about broader content at Rebel Wisdom to judge but recent stuff on Ivermectin and Bret Weinstein has been mostly good. Brian Rose investigation was good too. In this case I think it’s also worth noting that without David’s article and interview I doubt anyone outside of that world would have noticed anything. I couldn’t find any other coverage of the events with the Propertarians. That seems worth something to me.

Felt Matt’s pain on this one to the point where I may have to adopt Matt as my guru. Think the episode nailed it pretty well. The one point I think was glossed a bit was in the discussion of Hall not fearing the Propertarians: he doesn’t have to fear them because they would accept him as one of their own if it came to it. I also do still think Chris is too charitable to David Fuller and his project. The parts of it that aren’t pretentious garbage are actively harmful. And he could avoid doing the harmful bits by keeping quiet.

Argggghhh. Jordan Hall is an empty-headed baritone with an engorged vocabulary i.e. an undisciplined ego who sounds smart to some but as in this interview with D. Fuller presents as a perpetual word salad maker. David tried to engage in his often pretentious method but i felt like Ahab tied to the mast wishing the whale would hurry up and end it all. There just isn’t a speed available to listen to both bloviating together.

I think you were spot on in regard to David- though I am biased as I know him through Rebel Wisdom more than just this one interview. But, I think this does encapsulate many of the dilemmas that he faces, and we all face when a) bringing up difficult/ contentious issues with people we know b) are changing the way we work- using our skills ( journalistic in David’s case) in new ways and in new areas. c) Translating styles and methods of discourse into different arenas. I have found David to be open in exploring some of his struggles with this- and yet he keeps going and trying to ask the difficult questions of people he likes and respects. I can really enjoy listening to Jordan Hall in other arenas- when he is talking with John Vervake and Guy Sendstock and others exploring truth seeking through language and somatic responses. I really enjoy it and find it offers ways through difficult interpersonal situations. And I am a succour for a good metaphor- and can be over impressed by them!! But in this interview with Brandon, and again the follow up with David- I didn’t find it the appropriate method of discourse, and it remained obscure and allowed things to be unchallenged, which needed to be challenged. Jordan set it up in the beginning as being brave in facing difficult issues- but I didn’t hear him exploring them once they were deflected. It seemed to me, that he was using a method of inquiry with someone who had a very different agenda, and hadn’t established that before the conversation- so it was neither a journalistic interview, nor an inquiry which has an established trust at its basis. Jordan also framed it as just a conversation between himself and Brandon, in which he was unaware of an audience potentially listening, and as such that put it in a different category- but he referenced the audience during the interview with Brandon,and decided quickly to share it - which, as you pointed it, puts it in a different category. I am glad that David is coming on to discuss it more- I like the way that Chris and David discuss their differences and find that a good model of how difficult issues can be addressed in respectful ways with room for new thinking to emerge. I hadn’t heard of Chris Williamson, until your episode on Gad Saad - then coincidentally, David Fuller interviewed him on Rebel Wisdom- about the topic of asking difficult questions of the people they are interviewing. I haven’t finished listening to it yet- but from what I have heard I am enjoying their exploration. And I think you are right that your comments about male models and reality shows aren’t necessary and don’t add anything to the discussion. I am not so interested in what people have done in the past- what they are doing now, and how they are doing it is of. I have more interest, and I am intrigued by what has led people to where they are now, and how they are facing into the challenges and dilemmas of what that role brings. I find it really interesting that Love Island Contestants and nearly Nobel Prize winners face the same challenges now- and from the small bits I have seen, Love Island is in the lead in grappling with those dilemmas!!
