Decoding the... Foundation?!?

Hari* Seldon counts as a fictional guru at least... I mean, right?
Hot takes welcome in the comments!

Understood and sorry! Should have warned!

I think these episodes are great, just a suggestion, I was mindlessly listening to the episode thinking it was a high level analysis not thinking there would be spoilers when Chris gives off a spoiler. Other podcasts that I listen to usually start talking about the general outline of the show and then right before they are about to talk about spoilers give a big warning. I guess I should have known, but I just didn't think about it.

Hari Seldon. :) Looking forward to the Harris Gurometer, too, though.
Christopher Kavanagh
Harris gurometer will come when we do the full episode on him.

Good stuff! Thanks. It is SO TRUE, right, about actors? Seriously, though, isn't it curious that sort of vapid-seeming actors can play deeply serious and brilliant characters? Not talking as much about Cumberbatch as Turing (was that Cumberbatch?) as Barbara Sukowa playing Hannah Arendt or even Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane. Both those actors kind of flibbertigibbets, but convincing as thinking reeds! Are they just aping behaviors in a convincing way? It's astonishing. I too am a big Audible fan and second/third the Frankl recommendation. And have either of you read The Metaphysical Club, by Louis Menand? About the development of philosophical thought in the US between the Civil War and WWI? His more recent book is The Free World, which also is brilliant.

I watched 4 episodes of this and kind of lost interest but having listened to this I might give it another go. Had read some Asimov years ago but not this series.

Yeah true. We did give very brief warnings but should have flagged at the start!

Though I was hoping for a Gurometer on Hari, this was quite enjoyable. :) Is Paul Muad'Dib up next?

Ouch -- there are *spoilers* in this -- common review courtesy is to warn us of these up front ;). You guys are new to your new gig of taking over for Siskel and Ebert, so I'll let this one slide. I just jumped out at the 16 minute mark when you started discussing unexpected plot shifts/surprises and will be back after watching the episodes - would have liked to hear whether you guys thought it was worth it, first, though you seemed generally positive to that point...

I have to say. I haven’t watched all of it yet. But just after Chris’s ramble about the potential justifications for this content for us patroons but not the real feed… I’m already convinced. Good job.

We didn't notice!

Looking forward to the real hot takes in your episode, I’m really enjoying Foundation. I hope you cover off the TRAVESTY of wokeness that sees so many main characters from the book being switched from men to women! Ruined 1/10.
Christopher Kavanagh
Good hot take!

Hot take: it’s Hari not Harry?
