As a longtime Answer Me This fan, I had to continually remind myself that I was not listening to Helen Zaltzman. They share the same name and sound exactly alike!

Helen is awesome 😃Please invite her back…I had no idea that Helen’s quizzes were so much fun! These need to be regular features on DTG!

Listening to Helen’s podcast now on BBC Sounds— really enjoying it.

I'm an anthropologist. I am much more interested in regional differences than in broad sweeping generalisations. However, if you take an urban street or village, each with three pubs, they are all likely to attract different punters. Within that distinction, a Sunday Lunchtime is likely to attract a family group and a Tuesday evening is likely to attract a male only 'regular'.

Nina Davies

Ummm. You are not that interested in UK culture are you?

Pubs are only family places at lunchtime. In some areas men go to the pub with their mates and women go to the pub with their own mates - bars look a bit segregated even though there is no formal rule. In student areas and in cities this is very different ...... although there usually are still a few 'local pubs' where more traditional social norms remain.

This was so good! So entertaining listening to the banter. I only got two of the quiz answers correct. I don't really know that many gurus to be honest. Probably not a bad thing. Also the point Helen made about men's spaces disappearing is a good one; I hadn't heard that before. I hadn't even considered the fact that pubs used to be "men only" and now they're less like that. Lots of food for thought.
