Someone posted on the DTG subreddit a debate between Sam and Dan Carlin from 2016, and it's very good because Dan really presses Sam hard on his worldview. Old, but it seems like it does a good job of showing in more detail Sam's views on Islam etc. and what he's relying on/assuming. Dan is more of an isolationist apparently, and I would suspect that Matt/Chris would actually be more empathetic to Sam's views when it comes to the role of the US in world affairs (Ukraine, Bosnia, Rwanda, e.g). Also pleeeeease Chris I know this is an incredibly cheeky thing to ask but can I bow and scrape and ask you to consider holding Sam over a barrel for his comments about Islam being an inherently violent, macho religion while Christianity is for girls (I think he actually said p*ssies but anyway). I am in a protracted discussion with a friend who has started listening to Sam b/c the friend and Sam think similarly on a particular issue... my friend has started to go down the rabbit hole and started parroting Sam's take about Islam being unusually violent, hateful, inclined toward conquest & oppression etc. I would love to see Sam defend his claims in light of the historical evidence that Christianity is quite literally a world religion because of its association with and utility to violent imperialism - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantine_the_Great_and_Christianity - and that's before we even get to crusades, pogroms and inquisitions!! Admittedly I am trying very sneakily to win my friend over but I do think there would be genuine value in holding him to account b/c anyone with even a basic understanding of religious history can see the issues with his argument.
