There are much easier ways of having a mid-life crisis.

Matt

Ah yes, but he wouldn't have quite as much righteous indignation, which is presumably a good thing or something.

Brian Petersen

That Jordan Peterson breakdown was one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time lol

Suzan Lemont

Just shaking my head @ both of them, but especially Peterson. I had to go to 100 hours of therapy to get my Masters in expressive arts psychotherapy. Is there no such requirement for Clinical Psychology? My god, there should be! Lol-ed at the Gollum voices; spot on! One of the most enjoyable episodes ever, in terms of just the laughability of these clowns. Yeah Brett needs therapy too. They're beyond pathetic. They take their Jungian ideas way too seriously for grown men.

JBP's swings in tone remind me of other great artists from my country's former colonies: https://youtu.be/1i739SyCu9I?si=81iPPGpeOgYpat68

aneladgam_varelse

Jordan Peterson’s rant reminds me of Johny from The Room. Level of narcissism and speach patterns are there https://youtu.be/aekfPU0SwNw?feature=shared

Kat

These guys are too easy targets.

Dee the Lobsterdancing Bananaland Dinosaur Monster

Omg I now cannot un see JBP as Gollum doing his lamenting self talk 😂😭!! Any chance we can vote on a similar kind of alter ago for Mr Weinstein?????

Rod Hodges

One thing I think Bret has missed is the two dead alien pilots that the US government supposedly has hidden on a secret military base. They could very well be part of an advance force allied with Goliath. Maybe they crashed on the way here to some sort of war room meeting. This obviously would cause great consternation among us all, hence the great secrecy. This could also explain the rapidity of the vaccine roll out given highly advanced alien technology. I mean, I’m not saying it’s true but it COULD very well be and we would do well to consider this possibility. After all,we shouldn’t punish ourselves for thinking thoughts that at one time would have been considered crazy.

LaserRange

I reckon this is the most entertaining bit of work from DTGs. Just sooooo funny. The Gollum analogy is superb, and once it's pointed out, JBP sounds more ridiculous and unhimged than ever: and that's saying something. Great work lads!

Rod Hodges

Haven’t listened yet but is the Chinese Army invasion coming up from the Darien Gap mentioned yet? It’s pretty new.

Nina Davies

Brett hasn't read enough Thrillers. If he had put in more effort with the Thrillers, he would realise that his plot has massive holes. JP seems to be in two minds - some sunny optimism about future ventures is perhaps playing havoc with ability to maintain his conspiracy minded audience. Damn. If only his paranoid disposition hadn't set him off on this track he could have been living a comfortable life as an academic without having to build his own University.

Anne Stephens

"If Jordan didn't exist, Bret would have to invent him, and vice versa" As we say in the Shire...

Robert Andrews

I love the idea of a Guru Superbowl, but I feel it would be a little bit more like Scottish football where it really always comes down to the same two contenders and they are both awful. :D

Noreen B

I am so excited to be starting to listen to this! Such a bonanza of juicy decoding…

Robert Andrews

Wow! A veritable bonanza (or a panopoly, as Bret might say) of content. I will now silently sob in Petersonian fashion.

Linda Sears

Jordan does win points for his performance. Yet, Bret’s ability to lace together disparate conspiracies into a semi-coherent narrative was pretty impressive. He really should have used his energies as a fiction writer, and Jordan should have been an actor. Perhaps these two were creatives who felt pressured to go into the sciences, and we are all the poorer for it? Then again Russell Brand was an actor, and Scott Adam’s did a comic strip.

Lys

Brett has lost the plot. I didn't think he could fo deeper but he keeps managing to go to depths I never thought possible.

Linda Sears

Could you imagine how awful it would be to be the person or people running the training program for Jordan Peterson if he actually did it? No one would want that job.

Molly Jacobson

An extremely satisfying episode!

Duncan

I look forward to further decodings where Chris can give us the benefit of his Gollum impersonation.

Cranky

I’m pressing play on this knowing I’m gunna be furious… 😪

Riku

No, the two men in question are not Matt and Chris.

Riku

We are all just laughing at two incredibly deluded elderly men who have made questionable life choices and I’m okay with that.

Paul Bowman

Such a privilege to watch two masters of the craft, at the height of their powers and the top of their games, give a masterclass in the darkweb guru arts of wounded narcissism, megalomania and boundless paranoia. What great timing. A proper DTG lead-up to the Superbowl. You should make it an annual event - the Guru Superbowl where you select the two champions who have done the most to promote the craft in the preceding year and analyse them up against each other to see who wins the cup. All you have to do is find a name for the trophy! Imho Jordan ran away with it this year. Despite Bret's heroic efforts at putting the egregores into lineages. In fairness, Bret was severely outnumbered as Peterson was fielding at least 3 versions of himself. Not just Gollum/Smeagle, but also his own previous analyst self - thinly disguised as a "critic" with a silly voice. He's doing family therapy and he's the only one in the room. This guy takes it to another level! A worthy winner of the 2024 Guru Superbowl. We had the wrong Batman villain all along, it wasn't the Joker or the Riddler, at last we can see it was Harvey Dent, old Two-Face, all along.

Bertrand Sperling

Good one gents ❤️👍

Evan

That was hilarious though. I laughed a bunch.

Evan

If a new enlightened era is indeed around the corner, as JP hopes, it’s going to consist in a kind of media savvy world which finally learns how to effectively ignore the gurus. It will feel like Goliath winning to these guys.

Jake

This may be a little crude, but I fucking love how absolutely deranged Bret and Jordan are, it's like a recurring segment on a comedy sketch show, but in real life. Great episode!

Kevin Nyberg

Thought I’d be having a burrito for lunch today, didn’t expect I’d be feasting on DTG red meat instead! 🥩🥩🤤

Mike Nelson

No joke, Jordan Peterson sounds like he needs the care of a clinical psychologist. He's not well.

Tim Tripp

Oh wow it gets more nauseating!?

Franz Pökler

Hi guys, thanks for this special! @Chris: is the episode with Gideon M-K on Marinos‘ vaccine trial-thingy still coming? I know it‘s old news but still :)

Adam Sher

I thought the episode title was gonna be a play on Passion of the Christ. It would fit the episode

Jake Lawrence

Hats off to Chris's Gollum voice. 😂

Julie

✔️

Chris Clark

There’s something so inelegant and stupid in the way Brett uses language. “Delivering a planet to our children” so grandiose. I mean I get his point, it’s a broad one. But he speaks like a shit character in an abandoned Dan Brown novel that he started when he was 13, after his first spliff.

Christopher Kavanagh

Wait till you get to Jordan

Shane Partington

I still can’t fathom Bret’s unwarranted amount of confidence in his own ideas.

Diane Morrison

26 min in; have to take a break cos it’s too stupid
