His interpretation is of Revelation isn't actually off base. Most Biblical scholars would agree that Revelation is straight up about Roman oppression and Emperor Nero. So applying this to a modern empire (or NWO?) is pretty dang true to the original.

One other consideration for guru characteristics which I'm not sure about, but I think is interesting to think about, is fanaticism. I don't think this overt, at first sight (unlike narcissism, for eg). But it feels to that someone like Gad Saad is just a gobshite (maybe not a great example, as he's a bit of a failure as a guru). Whereas someone like Thiel, for all his lack of charisma, inarticulacy and silly incoherence of much of his half-baked notions, does strike me as having an underlying fanaticism to his personal psychology
