Lex Fridman and Douglas Murray on Ukraine: Can a Man of Peace Understand War?
🕑 Added 2025-04-15 05:36:04 +0000 UTCLex Fridman, the brave man of peace, brings his signature blend of naive platitudes and faux centrism to the Ukraine war. Joined this time by Douglas Murray, who, despite his usual faults, actually pushes back on Lex’s Putin apologetics. A rare case of Lex getting challenged on his path to podcast enlightenment.

I'm guessing the "I recommend visiting the places, as Douglas and I have" thing (at 5:38) is a dig at Dave Smith? It's such an innocuous-sounding suggestion on its face, who can argue against it, but it's either so obvious an advice that it's silly even to mention it like it's a revelation, or it miserably fails to make any sense as soon as you take it seriously for three seconds. You want me to visit an active war zone so I'm permitted to have an opinion on Ukraine? Risk getting snipered down or trampled over by bulldozers (remember Rachel Corrie) by IDF in Gaza, or at the least go through bureucratic rituals of humiliation via check points in West Bank until I'm allowed to think apartheid bad? Insufferable.
