It'd be the white ash from a fire; ie the ash with the fewest contaminants / most fully burned. (complete combustion of fuel, indicative of a high heat fire, all carbons converted to carbon-oxides) The type of tree it came from wouldn't factor in for this, although the white ash tree is both native to North America and is a hot-burning hardwood that converts to white ash easily even in a campfire/bonfire set up.
