A lot of people talk about 3D printing being "cheating". But what is it cheating? We use all manner of tools and materials that have been prepped in advance for us. Do we have to get into the chemistry of fabricating our own foam? Make our own flock? Wire up our own chips instead of using precreated circuit boards. What it really comes down to is what part of the project are you crafting, what is your FOCUS for the project? If your part is the design, assembly and painting, 3D printing is not cheating, it is manufacturing the parts that are not the focus of that craft. If that is cheating, then every project has lots of cheating because otherwise you would have to start with raw materials for everything.
