My 8 year old daughter is now determined to recreate this reading nook in her room. We're one reclaimed bookshelf and a quart of blue paint in. We'll see what happens.

Well, saw the next project! And yes, it's adorable. One tiny thing, I feel bad for pointing it out to an expert - is the cart waterproof? I can't help thinking one storm or a water deluge is going to make your beautiful paintwork disappear.

First time to say hello and here I am. I hope you two are well and can't wait for the next project

Also how do home projects compare to your typical projects? Are the more fun because you get to use it after, less fun because you have to live in construction, etc?!

Love the way it turned out. The best way to bend wood is to steam it. I replaced oak ribs on a 32 foot boat (35mm x 25mm) by steaming them. Grab a 300mm piece of abs pipe, tilt it up with one end over a (big) pot of boiling water, put the wood in with spacers so it's got as much air flow as possible, then cover the pot and open end. Give it some time. Wear gloves when pulling it out. I built a bending frame and used a small hydraulic jack on the oak. You should be able to get away with just brute force for most of the light stuff you use. Problem with plywood these days is that unless it's marine or aircraft grade, it's full of voids and easy to break. Steaming helps stop that from happening.

First painting is preordered :). Would have liked to order the complete series but it was already sold out😅. Question for the next BTF: what kind of paint did you use for the ikea pieces (in this room and hansis dark academia room). And how does it hold up? I ask because ikea changed the material for the billy cases (paper foil, honeycomb/cardboard infill, etc instead of wood) so it would be interesting to know if there is any swell up, flaking, etc.

What an amazing project! I love all the magical book fantasy details with the lights, the stars, and the extra storage. Behind the Forge question; There are so many unique projects you work on... do you ever have breaks between big projects to recover or reset? I'm really curious what your daily/weekly schedule looks like. I have a lot of projects I want to do, but don't feel like I always have the energy and stamina to start or keep up a project till the end like you do.
