Seriously though - that's one rewrite I've thought of "if Elly was actually the character she was originally set up to be," that she's just as capable as say Citan is of deception and plotting because otherwise she would have washed out of Gebler fast - that she arms herself, then lays it on Krelian so fucking thick that she hates Fei, wants to be with him forever now, etc etc etc to the point where he lets down his guard - then she does the HA HA I LIED DIE thing, headshots him, and then summons her squad to get the others down and safe etc...

That she allegedly reached high rank in the Solaris armed forces but then is too helpless and too stupid to think of how to subvert a simple blackmail attempt. Like that she can't even pull a Deborah (Biblical reference) and rely on how obsessed Krelian is with her to go in armed and just kill him at that point, because he'd be so over the moon about Sophia finally loving him he wouldn't notice a hidden gun?
