October Crazies

It's 'October Crazies'. If you have foxes you are familiar with this term. The foxes get insane this time of year. They are all food possessive and instincts tell them they need to bulk up to survive the winter.
I haven't been sleeping well this week. We have three animals in hospice care, two we will likely need to euthanize before winter.
I enjoy caring for animals, so I get really upset with myself when I struggle with it.
Low on sleep and awake to long, but it's time to feed the foxes.
Not usually something I have to prepare for in a safety manner, but this time of year I do. Full protective boots.
I walk in the yard with a bucket full of meat, my usual well behaved angels are all screaming and jumping up trying to grab the food. I get bit in the ankles, I get nipped in the hands. It's a fox feast frenzie.
I'm balling. (Probably mostly because I'm not well rested) My feelings are hurt I'm getting bit when I'm just trying to take care of them, then comes the guilt from feeling upset at them for biting. It's in their nature. They are wild animals.

I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling. I hope Ruby is still doing better, and I’m sorry about Bongo and Waverly. Soon enough the others will be your cuddle buddies again and playing in the snow. You’ll get through it.

Oh Mikayla, I'm teary eyed for you. It's not an easy job you have but it's beautiful, wonderful, and rewarding. Find a quiet place, close your eyes, let your mind relax for ten minutes, when it feels like too much. Sending you lots of love, strength and prayer.

It must be hard to do videos when you're trying to protect yourself from their craziness. It's definitely a good thing to show people though so they can remember that these guys are wild with just a side of tame and not creatures folks want in their homes.

Just remember that these foxies still love you a lot.. Like Finny, Jagger. I've seen everyday cats & dogs have moments like this, for the silliest reasons.

My heart hurts for you! Try to remember that they don't take it personal if you get upset with them. As you say, they are wild animals and they are not the same type of sensitive as we are. And I suffer from insomnia as well so I understand what no sleep can do to your emotions. Just remember, they love you the best they can and hold no grudges. Be strong and give your tired self a break. Love all that you are doing and say a prayer for you all ❤️

Mikayla, please, you need to take care of yourself too! I’m so sorry about the 3 in hospice, it’s never ever easy but you do what is best for them, no longer sick or in pain. Sending you Hugs & Prayers 💜🙏

Just wondering if some kind of a suit..maybe neoprene..a wet suit…might help against the nips and bites. The days are mostly cool now so it wouldn’t be so uncomfortable heat wise . I can’t begin to imagine how heartbreaking it is to deal with the sadness of multiple hospice animals…just one seems orbital. Hoping the crazies are over soon and that you can seek out some well needed rest…you so deserve it Mikayla.

I agree with all of them but would not have said it as well. Take care of yourself too. Really sorry about the three in hospice I know that is horrible experience. I've had it with my dogs and never gets easier especially when they're towards the end. Take care You're doing an amazing job with them.

I think all of us who care for fur babies have mutter under our breath, or even out loud when our little ones act the fool. It must be 1000x more frustrating when you have so many, and some needeing extra TLC. I'm sending YOU, Mikayla, love, and light. I hope you get some time to rest, mama. xo
