Holodexxx Experimental: 2D Mode now Live + VR UI Update
🕑 Added 2020-09-26 22:05:43 +0000 UTC
Heya Friendos!
2D mode has been unlocked for all of you flatscreeners; and is now available through the 2D Menu. We're still massaging 2D controls and UI; but Studio should now be playable for everyone -- except those 4D folk, but they rarely complain.
The updated UI will be see further improvements next week, as well as UI in other areas of Holodexxx.
Euphoria's customizations have been updated with more clothing options, and we have included content from the Gallery in Studio.

We have also squashed a few bugs that could have been causing the instability issue a handful of our Players have experienced. If you had an issue with crashes, or installation issues; now would be a good time for you to try out Experimental again.
If you are still hitting an installation/instability issue, please let us know the issue in the Bug section of the Holodexxx Discord. We're aiming for a completely stable Experimental build before our Studio release.
We will have some bigger content plans, and will have an updated roadmap for you soon!
Keyboard/Mouse controls, and simple HowTo help images for Studio attached below :)
Thanks for everything,
Mike & the Holodexxx team

Try changing the install drive, for some reason this fixed my issue with crash on startup with "fatal error" "corrupt data"

YES, wireless is the way to go. My cable keeps winding around the chair

Wireless with VD works like a charm for me

Freeplay is being expanded upon in the near future. Think of the systems that we're building as little experiments that will be expanded upon in Freeplay mode.
What exactly is the Freeplay mode? Is it just the ability to roam the apartment/condo? Can't seem to find anything to trigger, so just wondering
Holodexxx
You can find them at: C:\Documents\HDX_Home\Photos We'll make it much easier to find in the next update :)
Holodexxx
Not yet, but wireless capability should be online for the Quest 2
Love your work. Has there been any work around for using virtual desktop and oculus quest wireless?
The latest branch seems pretty cool. I'm playing around with some of the features and was wondering - if you're using 'Take Photo' functionality does it actually create a JPEG file somewhere on your machine or is it something which will be implemented in the future?

Okay thanks, can't wait.

The Studio release is imminent, and that won't have any crashing issues :) Just hold out for a BIT longer and you'll be good :)
Holodexxx your amazing, thanks for answering, I look forward to supporting the game as it goes. :)

Holodexxx is tested on Oculus Min Spec, and that is bar we aim for during our major releases. Experimental isn't optimized to meet that min spec while it is still in development; which is why it is the experimental build. When Holodexxx Studio is release, it will meet min spec standards
Ezreal thanks for advice.

Anything less than RTX 2070 won't have you ready for the next step of VR development for games like this.
@Holodexxx, I love your project, But I've noticed a lot of lag, and fps drops, I'm using GTX 1060, 16 Gb of Ram, and a I7. Is it because My spec's are not good enough?
James Smith
Okay understood, but is there a way to experience what I can't access? Mainly the studio part, I haven't yet been able to ! Plus those pics above show a whole new level of interaction it seems to me, what area is this accessed in ? Can I get both without the Experimental through Itch app ?

Reposting here for visibility. Hi James. The Experimental build was always meant to be an unstable build available to those that want it between official releases (our next official release is in two weeks). Maintaining a working build that is universally stable would take a giant chunk out of our actual dev time, and wouldn't allow us to meet our goals for this year. If an official release is this stable, we'd put a halt to development and stabilize it immediately; but for experimental, we do what we can.

Been like this for me for a good while, not too happy atm!

Same for me still, but only for Studio and customizing her. (VERY FRUSTRATING)

Keeps crashing on launch, something about corrupt data
