I guess that just shows how well this show and its storytelling is done. Even though I didn't have a connection with them, the weight of their fate was still enough to bring this lil bitch to tears.

As someone who just came back from Japan literally 2 days ago, and getting to walk through the different Samurai and Ninja museums in Tokyo and Kyoto, the ranking structure and history is always super cool to me. With the Emperor being the figurehead due to being descendants of the main Kami, bu the Shogun being the true head with the Daimyo, the regional lords being underneath them. Then you have the Samurai, then the ronin(masterless Samurai), then the farmers and fishermen, then the craftsmen, then the merchants. I even bought a Japanese government certified 700 year old antique katana made from one of the original students from the swordsmithing school of Gassan. That's how cool I think the culture and history is in that way. And this show is based on the sengoku period which was in between the muromachi period and the edo period when the greatest Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu (which Torunaga is based on) established a new shogunate in the 1600s that was the last shogunate until its fall in the late 1860s when the Meiji government, with the help of the US, took down the samurai. That reminds me, if you have not seen it yet, you should put a poll for the Last Samurai, which stars Tom Cruise, Ken Watanabe as well as has a decent appearance from, you guessed it, Hiroyuki Sanada (the guy that plays Toranaga), because it is cinematically very beautiful movie and is loosely based on the last rebellion of the Samurai against the Meiji government.
