New Costume Done

I have heard of it but have never seen the copy. I competed a couple of times at the Belly Dancer of the Universe Competition where Marta Schill is one of the judges, so I have briefly met her a couple of times. Yes Zill's were very popular in the American cabaret scene in the 70s in The US as well as in some folkloric styles. You rarely ever see them used now in modern Egyptian style although some dancers still choose to. They were never my thing but if you like zilling I highly recommend looking up Helena Vhalos. She is a lifetime professional dancer and an exceptional zill player and dancer. Definitely a must watch :)
The book is " The Complete Belly Dancer" by Julie Russo Mishkin and Marta Schill. You may have heard of it. It has great pictures. They talk about using Zills in this book and I wonder if this was a cultural or regional difference.
