Rhythm is a dancer (Part #1)
This time we are working on training our ear to recognize rhythms without overthinking rhythms.
In this drill we are going to move and react to Shifteteli, Malfuf, Karachi, & Maqsum.
I have always struggled with the musical breakdown of rhythms. If you asked me to count out or sound out a Malfuf for you you would watch me twist in the wind so to speak. I have no skill, or aptitude for reading music (my piano teacher as a child once told me I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket lol, reading music and understanding its structure from an academic standpoint has always been an issue for me).
However I know it when I hear it and I know how to react to it. As a dancer this I think is something that matters. So if you are like me and not scholastically adept at rhythms just making a mental note to practice to rhythms will help a lot.
All the rhythms tracks used here are from the album "Ritmos de Medio Oreinte" by Luciano Bertoluzzi.
I love this album and highly recommend it (I downloaded it from apple music). The tracks are longer and contain variation.
