Great start. I can hardly wait to the finished, full length video!

Hi Tim. Somewhat unrelated question. For Starship or Falcon 9 class rocket, how much actual space is needed for the launch corridor to be considered 'safe'. I was thinking about where different countries could put a space port but I don't know how much actual space is realistically needed. Maybe you have come across that information in your research.

Great graphics and explanations. The example of vehicle breaking makes great sense. Replace the Tesla with a big rig pulling a massive tank of water that's leaking and you have the loss of fuel while trying to come to a stop at the right time.

I explain my brain as having a fast processor and a small hard drive. LOL I watch these videos in short sections.

Overall I think it is great. Having studied Aerospace Engineering in college, you did a great job making it simple. The thrust to weight section I think some people will get a bit lost in, but it is important point. I think the ratios numbers will throw them off. It might be good to point out the difference instead of ratio for some (though technically accurate to use ratios).

Thank you for your consideration of that matter.

This video looks awesome...the one point you make about deceleration was a little unclear at first which has me wishing you would have quantified why by bringing the thrust to1to 1 you keep falling --- and that being the weight of the propellants you have already used, thus the overall weight is decreasing the more time they are firing.

This is a great explanation video, thanks. It's helping me understand what is going on. The grids behind the rocket simulations is a HUGE help and the car example is a great way for us to understand this concept and now we can simulate this every time we drive our cars. Thanks for bringing it down to everyday people

Great work Tim and crew!! I really like the addition of the driving and braking scenarios. It really helps to bring it “down to earth” for most people :) excited to see the finished version!

Sounds like NASA wants SpaceX to fly their rocket to the moon and use it as a Uber for everyone else.

You should absolutely change your original question to "Why are they doing this flipping belly-flop maneuver in the first place?"

What is everyone’s thoughts on NASAs starship announcement today?

Great video! Can’t wait to see full version

Holly cow! That 3D cross-section animation is incredible! Same guy who posts realer-than-reality renderings on Twitter I guess? Also, did you record twice at Mars and then 3rd time at Earth?
