Actually I remember something similar happening since D1 but under 800 nits, not under 1.000 like now so, yeah, something may have changed again from then.

Hi! I've just double checked and yes, it seems that anything below 1.000 nits will just trigger the HDR range "off". So the 800 nits for HGIG isn't working as intended. I will update both games to use 1.000 nits also for HGIG to avoid that. Thank you for sharing this!

I have a LG CX. Did all the calibration settings as listed for the TV and console. Using HGIG, 800 nits in Origins makes the sun have a blueish ring around it and makes it look dim. It seems to be the same case in Odyssey as well. Bumping it to 1000 nits seem to fix the issue and the sun looks normal and bright. Wondering if you know what would be the issue and if 1000 nits is ok to use. Thanks!
